Description

STARCAD-B 50 TABLET is a heart medicine that contains Metoprolol. It is used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure), angina pectoris (chest pain caused when your heart muscle does not get enough oxygen-rich blood), and arrhythmia (irregular heartbeat). STARCAD-B 50 TABLET helps in preventing heart attack (a blockage of blood flow to the heart muscle) and stroke (damage to the brain from interruption of its blood supply). STARCAD-B 50 TABLET works by reducing the rate and force of the contractions of your heart. Thus it decreases high blood pressure.

STARCAD-B 50 TABLET may cause side effects like headache, breathing difficulty, low blood pressure, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist for a longer time. This medicine may also cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine. Do not take STARCAD-B 50 TABLET if you are allergic to it.

STARCAD-B 50 TABLET should be taken with food or immediately after food. For the ease of remembering, take this medicine around the same time every day. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor.

STARCAD-B 50 TABLET may interact with other medicines. Hence, inform your doctor about your complete medical history including medical conditions if any. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding before taking STARCAD-B 50 TABLET. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking STARCAD-B 50 TABLET if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Second or third-degree heart block
Heart block is a condition that occurs when the signals that control your heart are slowed down. Heart block is of three stages named as first, second, or third-degree. First-degree heart block is the least severe, second-degree heart block is severe and can often progress to third-degree heart block, the most severe form. STARCAD-B 50 TABLET is not recommended to treat second or third-degree heart block that requires emergency attention.
Severe bradycardia
Bradycardia or slow heart rate occurs when your heart beats less than 60 times per minute. STARCAD-B 50 TABLET is not recommended to treat a slow heart rate.

Pregnancy

Dosage

Missed Dose

Overdose
