Sobisis 500mg Tablet
Sobisis Tablet is used as an antacid that helps in neutralizing stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. It works by increasing the pH of your blood and urine, which corrects metabolic acidosis (high acid levels in your body).
Sobisis Tablet is available on prescription in oral, injection and ear drop forms. The tablet form is used as an antacid which helps in neutralizing stomach acid during indigestion and heartburn. Injection form is used in the treatment of metabolic acidosis resulting from many clinical conditions. The ear drop form is used to soften the dry and hardened ear wax.
Sobisis Tablet may cause some side effects like dry mouth, increased thirst; or urinating more than usual. Inform your doctor if these side effects persist for a long time.
Sobisis Tablet is not recommended in children below 12 years of age. Inform your doctor if you have any stomach, kidney or liver troubles before taking this medicine. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

Uses of Sobisis Tablet
What is it prescribed for?
Metabolic Acidosis
Sobisis Tablet is used in the treatment of an excess acidic condition of the body resulting from many clinical conditions such as severe dehydration, kidney dysfunction, severe diarrhoea, heart problems, etc.
Diabetic ketoacidosis
Sobisis Tablet is used in the treatment of a diabetes complication called Diabetic ketoacidosis, a condition of a buildup of acids (ketones) in the blood.
Urine alkalinization
Sobisis Tablet is used for urine alkalinization which helps to increase the excretion of toxic substances from your kidneys.
Indigestion
Indigestion is a condition characterised by stomach discomfort, such as a burning sensation, bloating, nausea, or feeling full too soon after starting to eat. By decreasing the amount of acid in your stomach, Sobisis Tablet treats indigestion and thereby provides relief from its symptoms. Sobisis Tablet also relieves excess gas by breaking trapped gas and allowing it to pass easily.
Hyperkalemia
Sobisis Tablet is used to correct the blood potassium levels in hyperkalemia (Increased blood potassium levels).
When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Sobisis Tablet if you are previously allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of your face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Hypertension
Hypertension is an increase in blood pressure. Sobisis Tablet is not recommended if you have high blood pressure as it may worsen your condition.
Aldosteronism
Aldosteronism (a condition caused due to overproduction of a hormone, Aldosterone). Sobisis Tablet is not recommended if you have Aldosteronism as it may cause major side effects.

Pregnancy
It is not known whether Sobisis Tablet is harmful to the foetus. However, this medicine may create fluid buildup in your body, which can lead to other problems. If you are pregnant, do not use this medication without consulting your doctor.
Breast-feeding
It is not known whether Sobisis Tablet passes into breast milk. Hence, if you are breastfeeding, you should consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings
Sodium and water retention
Sobisis Tablet can cause sodium and water retention, resulting in hypernatremia (high level of sodium in your blood), hypokalemia (low blood potassium levels), and worsening of congestive heart failure/heart attack. Hence, take this medicine with caution if you have any preexisting conditions.
Kidney impairment
Sobisis Tablet should be used with caution if you have kidney problems. Long term use of this medicine can lead to progressive kidney damage.
Liver impairment
Sobisis Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver problems as this medicine may damage your liver further leading to side effects.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Oral Form: If you have missed taking Sobisis Tablet at a scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the dose. Avoid taking two doses together at once to make up for the missed one.
Parenteral Form: Since Sobisis Tablet is usually administered by a qualified healthcare professional in the clinical/hospital setting, the likelihood of a missed dose is very low.
Ear drops: If you have forgotten to take this medicine at a scheduled time, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is time for your next dose, skip the dose. Avoid taking two doses together at once to make up for the missed one
Overdose
Oral Form: Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical treatment in case you suspect an overdose of Sobisis Tablet.
Parenteral Form: Since this medicine is given in the hospital setting by a qualified healthcare professional, the likelihood of an overdose is very less. However, emergency medical treatment will be initiated by your doctor if an overdose is suspected.
Eardrop: Do not use it more than the prescribed dose as it may lead to ear irritation. Seek immediate medical attention in case of overdose.
