Description

Serobid Rotacaps is a bronchodilator medicine that is used to relieve symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, breathing difficulties, coughing, etc. caused by asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 4 years of age.

Uses of Serobid Rotacaps

What is it prescribed for?
Asthma
This medicine is used to prevent or reverse airway obstruction in patients who suffer from asthma or bronchospasm. It is usually used in combination with a long-term asthma control medication such as an inhaled corticosteroid.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
This medicine is used to prevent and treat symptoms such as breathing difficulties, wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, etc. associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

When not to use?
Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to salmeterol or any other inactive ingredients present along with the formulation.
Status asthmaticus
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from status asthmaticus (a severe, acute asthma attack) as a first-line therapy since it is not effective in treating this condition.

Pregnancy

Breast-feeding

General warnings
Liver impairment
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of liver impairment due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Hypokalemia
The use of this medicine has been associated with a decrease in blood potassium levels (hypokalemia). Hence, it should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from hypokalemia, a disorder where potassium levels in the body are very low. Regular monitoring of blood potassium levels is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
Seizure disorders
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a seizure disorder due to the increased risk of recurrent seizures. Report any unusual symptoms to the doctor immediately. Thyrotoxicosis or hyperthyroidism
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with a known history of thyrotoxicosis or hyperthyroidism due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Use in children

Dosage

Missed Dose
Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
