Description
Sartel Trio Tablet is a combination of Telmisartan, Cilnidipine and Chlorthalidone. It is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).
Sartel Trio Tablet shows common side effects like headache, tiredness, swelling of ankles and change in taste. It may also cause dizziness. Therefore, get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying down position. If any of these symptoms persist for a long time or worsen, consult your doctor at the earliest. It is advisable to avoid taking this medicine within four hours of going to bed as it contains a water pill (diuretic), and this will make you urinate more.
Sartel Trio Tablet can be taken with food. Take this medicine at the same time every day for ease of remembering. Do not stop this medicine on your own, even if you feel better, as it may worsen your condition. High blood pressure usually does not have symptoms and stopping this medicine on your own may increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.
Sartel Trio Tablet can be impacted by other medications. Therefore, discuss all your known medical conditions such as heart, kidney or liver problems, and all the active medications that you may be taking, with your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding.

When not to use?
Allergy
Do not take Sartel Trio Tablet if you are allergic to any of the contents of the medicine. Seek medical attention if you notice symptoms like a skin rash, swelling (face, lips, tongue, etc.), breathing difficulty, etc.
Aliskiren
It is not recommended to take Sartel Trio Tablet and Aliskiren (used in the treatment of high blood pressure) together as this may lead to kidney damage, high blood pressure and hyperkalemia (high potassium levels in the blood). It may also cause other undesirable effects such as irregular heartbeat, muscle paralysis, heart attack, etc. This risk is especially higher in old people and if you have diabetes and kidney problems.
Anuria
Sartel Trio Tablet is not recommended if you have anuria (a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine), as it may cause kidney damage and water retention in your body.
Severe kidney disease
Sartel Trio Tablet is excreted through the kidneys. It is not recommended if you have severe kidney problems. This medicine accumulates in the kidneys and can lead to other undesirable effects, thus worsening your condition.
Severe liver disease
Sartel Trio Tablet is absorbed and broken down in the liver. Taking this medication while having liver problems, will further worsen your condition.
Warnings
Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Sartel Trio Tablet is not recommended during pregnancy as it may cause oligohydramnios (decrease in the slight yellowish fluid that surrounds the foetus in your womb), decrease in the birth weight of your baby, a prolonged gestation (the time period from conception to delivery), etc.
Breast-feeding
Sartel Trio Tablet is known to pass into breastmilk. This medicine may decrease milk production in lactating mothers, lower the heart rate (bradycardia) in infants, and also cause dehydration in your infant. Consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding while on this medication.
General warnings
Hyperkalemia
Sartel Trio Tablet may lead to hyperkalemia (increase the potassium levels in your blood). This may cause side effects such as cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.
Use in children
Sartel Trio Tablet is not recommended for use in children because the safety and efficacy of its use are not evaluated.
Hypotension
This medicine is not recommended for use if you suffer from hypotension (low blood pressure) as it will further decrease your blood pressure which can be dangerous. Also, if you are taking diuretics (water pills) or are being treated for volume depletion (loss of fluids in the body due to severe diarrhoea/vomiting, burns, kidney problems, etc), this medicine is not suitable for you.
Volume and electrolyte disturbances
Sartel Trio Tablet may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, and acid-base imbalance (abnormality in the human body to balance between acid and base). This risk is especially higher if you have kidney or liver problems. Your blood pressure and electrolyte levels will be closely monitored by your doctor while you are on this medication.
Aortic stenosis
Sartel Trio Tablet should be used with extreme caution in people with aortic stenosis (narrowing or blockage of the aortic valve that regulates blood flow between the chambers of your heart) because of increased risk of developing very low blood pressure. You have to closely monitor your blood pressure while you are taking this medicine.
Driving or operating machinery
Use of Sartel Trio Tablet may cause symptoms such as drowsiness, blurred vision, or dizziness. It is advised that you do not perform any activity that requires high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating heavy machines during treatment with this medicine.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose of Sartel Trio Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume at the scheduled time. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.

Seek emergency medical treatment or contact your doctor in case you suspect Sartel Trio Tablet overdose.
