Razo 20 MG

Razo 20 tablet is used to relieve acidity and heartburn in conditions such as stomach and intestinal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. It contains rabepra

ole as its main component that belongs to the class of medicines called ‘Proton pump inhibitors which are used to reduce the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Take this medicine as prescribed and for the duration, it is prescribed for by your doctor. Some common side effects of Razo 20 tablet are headache, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain, but not everybody gets them. These side effects normally go away with time, but if you feel the side effects persist, you should consult your doctor. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding and about all the medicines and supplements you take and all the conditions or diseases you suffer from, before starting the Razo 20 tablet.

Uses of Razo 20 MG

Razo 20 tablet is used in the treatment of heartburn and chest pain due to stomach acid reflux disease in which acidic content from the stomach comes up to food pipe and mouth
Treatment of ulcers of stomach, intestine and inflammation and erosion of food pipe due to stomach acid
Management of a condition of increased gastric acid production induced by a tumour of intestine or pancreas, also known as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

If you are allergic to rabeprazole or any other ingredients of Razo 20 tablet
If you are pregnant or think that you could be pregnant or breastfeeding

Pregnancy

Driving

Can I drive after consuming Razo 20 tablet?

There are chances of drowsiness and dizziness with the Razo 20 tablet. Avoid driving or using heavy machinery while taking treatment with this medicine.

Alcohol

Can I consume alcohol while taking Razo 20 tablet?

Drinking alcohol when you are using Rabeprazole does not affect the way this medicine works. Avoid drinking large quantities of alcohol as it increases acidity and stomach disease worse.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You have stomach pain, indigestion and problems in swallowing.
You have a family history of stomach cancer.
You vomit food or blood or you are passing black stools.
You develop skin reaction after taking similar medicine.
You suffer from frequent diarrhoea.
You have a liver function problem.
You develop symptoms like painful joints, skin rashes and tiredness.
You are undergoing a blood test (Chromogranin A).
You are expected to use this medicine for a longer duration as there are risks associated with that.
The long term treatment with this medicine may lead to a deficiency of vitamin B12 which produce symptoms like pale skin, sore tongue, weakness, headache, disturbed vision and irritability.
The long term treatment of this medicine may weaken the bones or may slightly increase the risk of fracture.
In some patients with ulcers, the course of this medicine may take 1 to 3 months. Avoid stopping the medicine on your own.
It is not recommended for use in children.

Mode of Action of Razo 20 MG

How Does It Work?

In an average healthy individual, specific cells in the stomach get stimulated and release acid after intake of food. In certain individuals, excess of acids is secreted which may lead to acid-related stomach problems such as ulcers
Rabeprazle belongs to the class of medicines called the proton pump inhibitors. The lining of the stomach secretes acid by certain processes that involves intake of ions via proton pump in the cells. Rabeprazole reduces the intake of the ions in the stomach cells that are necessary for the production of digestive acids in the stomach, and hence leads to reduced acid production.

Directions for Use of Razo 20 MG

Razo 20 tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor.
Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Interactions of Razo 20 MG

Interactions with other medicines

Certain medicines can affect the way Razo capsule works or Razo capsule itself can affect the action of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
Especially if you are taking medicines like Rilpivirine (Anti-HIV medications), Disopyramide (for irregular heart beats), medicines for mental problems, antibiotics, antifungals, medicine used to treat heart failure like digoxin, blood tthinners, etc.

Interactions with food items

Razo 20 Tablet should not be taken with food or milk. You should take it 30 minutes before food. As food decreases the effectiveness of the medicine.

Storage and disposal of Razo 20 MG

Store Razo tablets below 25°C, protected from moisture, sunlight and heat
Keep the medicine away from children and pets
Dispose off the expired medicine or medicine which is no longer needed

Dosage of Razo 20 MG

Overdose

The symptoms of overdose with Razo 20 tablets are similar to the side-effects in the body. So, if you have consumed a higher dose or think you may have taken too much of the medicine, do not panic and contact your doctor or visit the nearby hospital.

Missed a Dose

If you missed any dose of medicine, then take it as soon as you remember. If it’s time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of medicine to compensate for the missed one.
