INTRODUCTION

PIRA GPC contains Piracetam which belongs to a group of medicines known as GABA analogues. It is used in the treatment of memory disorders or intellectual disturbances such as a lack of concentration or of alertness, changes of mood, a deterioration in behaviour and personal negligence. It is used in combination with the other medicines to treat the myoclonus, which is a condition in which nervous system causes muscles, in the arms and legs, to start to jerk or twitch uncontrollably. It also protects the brain and nervous system against shortness of oxygen.

Always take PIRA GPC exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the medicine whole with plenty of water. Do not take this medicine if you suffer from Huntington‘s Disease (also known as Huntington‘s Chorea). If you are pregnant or breast-feeding or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor for advice before taking this medicine. Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking this medicine, it may cause drowsiness and shakiness. Tell your doctor if you are taking, have taken or might take any other medicines.

HOW PIRA GPC WORKS

It improves the function of neurotransmitter acetylcholine via muscarinic cholinergic (ACh) receptors, which are implicated in memory processes. It may influence NMDA glutamate receptors, which are involved with learning and memory processes.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take PIRA GPC exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the medicine whole with plenty of water.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

Nausea and vomiting:

Keep try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

Diarrhea:

Drink lot of fluid, such as water or squash, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any other medicines before consulting the doctor.

Skin redness:

Avoid bath in hot water because hot water can irritate the skin. Moisturizers can be used regular basis to soothe and hydrate the affected area.

PREGNANCY
PIRA GPC is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
PIRA GPC is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking this medicine, it may cause drowsiness and shakiness.

ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine.

KIDNEY
PIRA GPC should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
PIRA GPC should be taken with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic to this medicine.

OTHERS

Do not take PIRA GPC, if you:

Suffer from Huntington‘s Disease (also known as Huntington‘s Chorea)
Have ever experienced a brain hemorrhage

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking:

Thyroid extract or thyroxine
Anticoagulants such as warfarin or acenocoumarol
Low dose aspirin
Any other medicines without a prescription
