Description

Parkin 2 MG Tablet is an antispasmodic medicine, which is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease and extrapyramidal symptoms caused by other medicines. It may cause dizziness, therefore use with caution. Do not stop without informing the doctor as it may worsen the disease.

Uses of Parkin 2 MG Tablet

What is it prescribed for?
Parkinson’s disease
This medicine is used in the treatment of Parkinson’s disease which is a central nervous system disorder characterized by trembling of hands, arms, and face, slowness of movement and stiffness of limbs.
Drug-induced Extrapyramidal Symptoms
This medicine is used in the treatment of extrapyramidal symptoms like restlessness, muscle spasms, and contractions caused by medicines belongs to class phenothiazines, thioxanthenes, and butyrophenones.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to trihexyphenidyl or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.
Narrow angle glaucoma
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with narrow-angle glaucoma due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Cardiovascular Disease
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding
This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. The risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings
Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome
This medicine may cause Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS) in patients who discontinued the treatment or reduced the daily recommended dose. Any symptoms of fever, muscle rigidity, altered mental status should be informed to the doctor.
Tardive dyskinesia
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with tardive dyskinesia which is an involuntary movement of the tongue, lips, and face unless the patient has concomitant Parkinson’s disease due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition
Infectious Diarrhea
This medicine decreases the elimination of bacteria that cause diarrhea, therefore, not recommended in patients with infectious diarrhea. Inform the doctor if you are having severe diarrhea or received antibiotics before receiving this medicine.
Psychotic symptoms
This medicine may cause psychotic symptoms like confusion, delusions, and hallucination. It should be used with caution in elderly patients due to increase in the risk of these symptoms.
Hypertension
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hypertension due to the increased risk of high blood pressure. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is necessary while receiving these medicines. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.
Withdrawal effect
Abrupt discontinuation of this medicine may increase the risk of adverse effects, especially if you have been using a high dose for a long duration. A gradual dose reduction is recommended to avoid these reactions. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
Pediatric use
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.
Driving or Operating machinery
Use of this medicine may cause blurred vision or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

Interactions

General Instructions
Take this medicine with food. Do not take in larger amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Do not stop taking the medicine before completion of the course/without consulting your doctor.
