Pari CR 12.5 Tablet (Paroxetine 12.5mg)

INTRODUCTION

PARI CR 12.5MG contains an antidepressant medicine called paroxetine which belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. It used in adults to treat depressive and anxiety disorders like major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorders, anxiety after traumatic experience or generalized anxiety disorder.

Endogenous serotonin is responsible for stabilization of mood, feelings of well-being and happiness. It also helps with proper sleeping, eating and digestion. Lower levels of serotonin leads to depression or anxiety . Paroxetine inhibits presynaptic reuptake of serotonin and this inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Take PARI CR 12.5MG in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. The most common side effect of taking this medicine is worsening of depression and suicidal thoughts. If this happens, contact your doctor immediately. Do not drive or use any tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.

HOW PARI CR 12.5MG WORKS

Paroxetine enhances the activity of serotonin by inhibiting serotonin re-uptake at pre-synapse by the serotonin (SERT) receptor. This inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration depending upon your health condition. Take the medicine in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF PARI CR 12.5MG

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea or vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal and stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.

Constipation:

Eat fibre rich foods like fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Avoid taking any other medicines for diarrhoea without speaking to a doctor.

• Other medicines used to treat depression (e.g. moclobemide, clomipramine, nortriptyline and desipramine)
• Medicines used to treat psychosis (e.g. thioridazine, lithium, risperidone, perphenazine, clozapine or pimozide)
• Medicines used to thin blood (warfarin)
• Medicine used to relieve pain (e.g. aspirin, ibuprofen, fentanyl, celecoxib, etodolac, diclofenac, meloxicam tramadol and pethidine)
• Medicines used to treat migraine (sumatriptan)
• Medicines used to treat epilepsy (phenytoin or carbamazepine)
• Medicines used to treat an irregular heartbeat (propafenone, flecainide)
• Combination of fosamprenavir and ritonavir (used to treat HIV infection)
• St. John’s Wort (a herbal remedy for depression)
• Atomoxetine (used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
• Procyclidine (used to relieve tremor)
