Medical Description

Olmesar 40mg Tablet contains Olmesartan medoxomil, an anti-hypertensive. It is used to treat high blood pressure. Take as suggested by the doctor and in the dose and duration prescribed. Take with or without food. Avoid stopping the medicine on your own. Avoid taking the medicine if you are allergic to it, over 3-months pregnant, have kidney diseases or are diabetic. Before starting the medicine, inform the doctor about the past medical history and medicines that you take.

It is used to treat high blood pressure.

Contraindications of Olmesar 40 MG

If you are allergic to Olmesartan medoxomil or other ingredients of Olmesar 40mg Tablet.
If you are pregnant for over 3-months.
If you suffer from jaundice.
If you suffer from diabetes.
If you suffer from gallbladder problems.
If you suffer from kidney disease.
If you are using medicine containing aliskiren.

Talk to your doctor if

The medicine is not recommended for children below the age of 6 years.

Mode of Action of Olmesar 40 MG

How Does It Work?
The medicine blocks a substance in the body that causes the blood vessels to tighten, thus relaxing blood vessels and allows the blood to flow easily.

Directions for Use of Olmesar 40 MG

Take as suggested by the physician. Swallow as a whole with a glass of water or milk. Take with or without food. Do not break, crush or chew the medicine. Take at the same time every day for optimal results. Avoid taking dose more than that recommended.

Interactions of Olmesar 40 MG

Interactions with other medicines
Before starting Olmesar 40mg medicine, inform the doctor about the medicines you take, including herbal, vitamins and mineral supplements.
The medicine, when taken with other antihypertensive medications like benazepril, captopril, lisinopril, may alter its effects.
Concomitant use along with medicine used in heart diseases and high blood pressure like perindopril, candesartan, aliskiren may increase the risk of side effects with the medicine.
Concomitant use of the medicine along with potassium supplements, medications like amiloride, spironolactone is not recommended, it may lead to increased potassium levels in the blood.
Medicines like aspirin, ibuprofen, etc may lead to kidney failure when taken together with the medicine.
Lithium must not be taken with the medicine.
The medicine must be taken 4 hours before Colesevelam (used to reduce cholesterol and fatty substances in the blood).
Interactions with food items
Take the medicine either before or after your meals.

Store at room temperature, protected from moisture and heat. Keep it away from children and pets.

Dosage of Olmesar 40 MG

Overdose
An overdose of the medicine may lead to low blood pressure (symptoms include dizziness, nausea, unconsciousness, blurred vision, etc). Seek medical help if you experience the symptom or feel you have taken too much of the medicine.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
