Medical Description

Oflox OZ tablet is an antibiotic medicine. Oflox OZ is a combination medicine containing ofloxacin and ornidazole as its active ingredients. It is used for the treatment of diarrhoea of mixed infection in adults only. Oflox OZ works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria and killing the bacteria that cause infection. The dose duration and frequency of taking this medicine is decided by your doctor and you should take it as directed. Diarrhoea is a condition of passing frequent bowels with a significant decrease in the solidity of bowel movements. It makes your week, fatigued and dizzy. Thus, while taking this medicine it is important to drink plenty of water, oral rehydration solution to stay hydrated and replenish lost fluid, salts & electrolytes. Avoid Staying away from greasy and spicy foods, full-strength juice and any other foods or drinks that have made previous episodes of diarrhoea worse. Oflox OZ should be taken as directed by the doctor and in doses and duration as prescribed. It is very important to complete the course of antibiotic medicine as prescribed by the doctor. Do not miss any dose of this antibiotic medicine. Do not stop taking this medicine on your own, as it can lead to antibiotic resistance and recurrence of infection.

Uses of Oflox Oz Strip Of 10 Tablets

To treat diarrhoea of mixed infection only in adults.

Contraindications of Oflox Oz Strip Of 10 Tablets

If you are allergic to ofloxacin, ornidazole or any ingredients of the Oflox OZ tablet.
If you are allergic to a specific type of medicine called Fluoroquinolone (ask your doctor or nurse if you are not sure).
If you have a history of fits.
If you have problems related to a tendon (tissue connecting muscles to bones) like inflammation and swelling of the tendons (tendonitis).
If you are pregnant or are planning to have a baby or if you are breastfeeding.
If your age is less than 18 years.
If you have Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects the red blood cells) or a family history of this deficiency.

Talk to your doctor if
You have swelling and pain in tendons (tendinitis), experiencing pain and strain in muscles or muscle weakness.
You are experiencing loose stools, frequent bowel or bloody diarrhoea.
You are diabetic, your blood glucose can drop.
You have a condition called myasthenia gravis (weakness or fatigue of muscles).
You experience suicidal thoughts, feeling low or anxiety immediately inform your doctor.
You experience fits or have a history of fits, seizures or epilepsy.
You feel restlessness, lightheadedness, confusion or hallucinations.
You feel allergic reactions like fever or rashes.
You have kidney problems, liver or heart problems.
You have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (an inherited disorder that affects red blood cells).
Oflox OZ Tablet is not recommended in children below 18 years of age.

Take this medicine in the correct dose and for the exact duration as directed by your doctor.
Take this medicine as a whole with a glass of water with or without food.

Interactions of Oflox Oz Strip Of 10 Tablets

Interactions with other medicines
Some medicines can affect the way the Oflox OZ tablet works or the Oflox OZ tablet itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all the medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interactions.
Especially, if you are taking medicines to treat high blood pressure, heart failure, high/abnormal cholesterol levels, blood thinners, anti-infectives, anti-diabetics, anti-asthmatics, immunomodulatory medicines or medicines for brain-related disorders.
Medicines used to treat acidity (antacids) like sucralfate, antacids containing calcium and magnesium should be taken with a minimum gap of 2 hours with this medicine.
Certain painkillers if taken along with this medicine can lead to seizures, fits and stimulation of brain activity.
Medicines used to treat asthma or airway disease (COPD) like theophylline if taken along can lead to increased risk of getting side effects.

Store the medicine in a cool and dry place at room temperature.
Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Dosage of Oflox Oz Strip Of 10 Tablets

Overdose
Symptoms of an overdose include drowsiness, hot and cold flushes, nausea, dizziness, facial swelling, numbness, slurring of speech and disorientation. In case of an overdose, contact your doctor immediately or visit your nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking any dose of this medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one. It is advisable not to miss any dose of antibiotics as it can result in the failure of therapy.
