Description

Novastat CV 10 Capsule is a combination of Rosuvastatin and Clopidogrel. It is used orally to reduce the level of bad cholesterol and fats in your body. High levels of cholesterols and fats increase the risk of heart attack and stroke. This medicine works by reducing the formation of cholesterols and fats in your body and decreasing the formation of harmful blood clots.

Novastat CV 10 Capsule shows common side effects like stomach pain, indigestion, constipation and headache. Consult your doctor if the side effects persist or worsen. This medicine increases the risk of bleeding in the body, so be careful while using sharp objects or doing any work that has a risk of causing damage to the skin. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Novastat CV 10 Capsule may rarely cause serious side effects. While on treatment with this medication, notify your doctor if you are more tired than usual, do not feel hungry, or if you have yellow eyes or skin. Consult your doctor at the earliest if you experience muscle pain or weakness, particularly if it is accompanied by fever.

Novastat CV 10 Capsule can be taken with or without food. The dose and duration of treatment will depend on what you are being treated for. Take this medicine at the same time every day for ease of remembering and to avoid missing the dose. Do not stop taking it until you have finished the complete course of treatment, even when you feel better.

Novastat CV 10 Capsule can interact with other medications and health conditions. Share your entire medical history of kidney/liver problems, bleeding disorder etc. with your doctor. You should also let your doctor know about all other medicines you are taking as they may affect Novastat CV 10 Capsule. Novastat CV 10 Capsule is used to reduce the risk of stroke by reducing the levels of bad cholesterol in your blood. A stroke occurs when a blockage in the blood vessels interrupt or reduces blood supply to your brain. It can also occur when high cholesterol levels get accumulated in your blood vessels (carotid artery) and narrows or blocks the blood vessels leading to the interrupted blood supply to your brain.
Peripheral Arterial Disease
Novastat CV 10 Capsule is used in the treatment of peripheral artery disease. In this condition, there is a blockage of the blood vessels (that carry blood to limbs) due to the accumulation of cholesterol or blood clot.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Novastat CV 10 Capsule if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Active liver disease
Novastat CV 10 Capsule is broken down in the liver. The presence of liver problems may lead to the accumulation of this medicine in your liver. This accumulation may worsen the liver condition. Hence, Novastat CV 10 Capsule is not recommended for use if you have active liver problems.
Bleeding disorder
Novastat CV 10 Capsule is not recommended for use if you have a known history of peptic ulcer(s) or any bleeding disorders due to the increased risk of bleeding.

Warnings

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Novastat CV 10 Capsule is not recommended if you are pregnant as it may potentially harm your foetus. Your doctor may prescribe a safer alternative based on your clinical condition.
Breast-feeding
Novastat CV 10 Capsule pass into the breastmilk. This may harm your infant. Discontinue breastfeeding while on Novastat CV 10 Capsule treatment. Discuss the benefits and risks with your doctor before taking this medicine.
General warnings
Cognitive impairment
Novastat CV 10 Capsule may cause forgetfulness, memory loss, confusion, etc. in some people. These side effects are reversible and usually disappear once the medicine is discontinued.
Myopathy and Rhabdomyolysis
Novastat CV 10 Capsule may cause myopathy (muscle pain) and rhabdomyolysis (a very serious condition in which damaged muscle fibres enter the bloodstream, leading to kidney failure) in some people, a condition that can be harmful. This may cause symptoms such as severe tiredness and weakness. This risk is especially higher in the elderly and in people with active muscle disorders.
Alcohol consumption
Novastat CV 10 Capsule may cause liver and kidney injuries in people consuming alcohol very frequently and in large quantities. Hence, consumption of alcohol should be avoided during treatment with this medicine.
Discontinuation of Clopidogrel
Stopping the use of Novastat CV 10 Capsule suddenly may increase the risk of heart problems. If treatment is interrupted in conditions like surgery or bleeding, it should be restarted as soon as possible.
Use in pediatrics
Since the safety and efficacy of Novastat CV 10 Capsule use are not clinically established, this medicine may be used in children below 18 years of age only under the close supervision of the doctor.
This medicine is not recommended for use in children below six years of age.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forget to take a Novastat CV 10 Capsule dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose on time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.
Overdose
Never take Novastat CV 10 Capsule more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

General Instructions
Take Novastat CV 10 Capsule orally with food to avoid an upset stomach.
It increases your risk of bleeding. Be careful while shaving, cutting fingernails or toenails, or using sharp objects.
Notify your doctor if you are more tired than usual, do not feel hungry, or if you have yellow eyes, skin.
Notify your doctor if you experience muscle pain or weakness, particularly if accompanied by fever.
Let your doctor know that you are taking Novastat CV 10 Capsule before undergoing any surgical procedure.
Do not open, crush or chew the capsule in your mouth.
