Nogacid Capsule (Omeprazole 20mg)

INTRODUCTION

NOGACID contains Omeprazole which belongs to a group of medicines called proton pump inhibitors which reduces the amount of acid in stomach. Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease is a condition where acid from the stomach leaks up into the oesophagus (gullet). Omeprazole stop cells from producing excess acid in the lining of the stomach. This prevents the formation of ulcers and also assist the healing process where damage has already occurred. By decreasing the amount of acid, they can also help to reduce the symptoms of acid reflux disease, such as heartburn.

This medicine is used to treat acid-related diseases of the stomach and intestine such as heartburn, acid reflux, peptic ulcer disease, and some other stomach conditions associated with excessive acid production. It is also used to prevent stomach ulcers and acidity that may be seen with the prolonged use of pain-killers. Before taking this NOGACID, tell your doctor if you have severe liver problems or any allergic reactions to similar medicines, pregnant or breastfeeding. The common side effects are headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain and constipation.

HOW NOGACID WORKS

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take this NOGACID according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break the medicine.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:

Stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Diarrhoea:

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
NOGACID is considered safe for use by pregnant women. It is advised to consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

BREASTFEEDING
NOGACID should be used with caution for breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
NOGACID may cause dizziness or visual disturbances. Do not drive or handle any machines while taking this medicine.

LIVER
NOGACID should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Omeprazole or any of the other ingredients in this medicine.

OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you had or have a condition such as:

Skin reaction
Reduced body stores

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

Pantoprazole, lansoprazole, rabeprazole and esomeprazole
Nelfinavir, atazanavir and saquinavir (used for HIV infection)
Ketoconazole, posaconazole, itraconazole
Digoxin (used to treat heart problems)
Diazepam (used to treat anxiety)
Phenytoin (used in epilepsy)
Warfarin, clopidogrel and vitamin K blockers
Rifampicin (used to treat tuberculosis)
Tacrolimus
Clarithromycin
Cilostazol (used to treat intermittent claudication)
Erlotinib, methotrexate (used to treat cancer)
