Nepablu BF Eye Drop (Nepafenac 0.1%)

INTRODUCTION

NEPABLU contains Nepafenac which belongs to a group of medicines known as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is used to prevent and relieve eye pain and inflammation and reduces the risk of macular oedema following cataract surgery on the eye in diabetic patients.

Use this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The dose you use will depend on your age, other medications you are taking and whether you have any kidney or liver problems. This medicine is not recommended for use in children and adolescents below 18 years of age and pregnant women. The common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache and dizziness. Consult your doctor for advice. Avoid driving or handling of machines while using this medicine, since it may cause blurred vision. Avoid sunlight during using this medicine.

HOW NEPABLU WORKS

NEPABLU is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic prodrug. After instillation, it penetrates the cornea and is converted by ocular tissue hydrolases to amfenac, a nonsteroidal anti- inflammatory drug. Amfenac inhibit the synthesis of prostaglandins in the iris, ciliary body, and conjunctiva and thus, prevent ocular inflammation and reduce pain.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Use this medicine according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. It is for external use only. Check the label for directions before use. Only use this medicine for your eyes. Do not swallow or inject.

SIDE EFFECTS OF NEPABLU

SERIOUS
Inflammation on the eye surface and coloured part of the eye (iritis)
RARE
Iris inflammation, eye pain,
Eye discomfort, dry eye, eyelid swelling, irritation, discharge
Allergic conjunctivitis (eye allergy)
Increases tear production, deposits on the eye surface, fluid or swelling at the back of the eye
Dizziness, headache
Nausea
Skin inflammation

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Redness of eye:

Place a cool compress over the eyes, by soaking clean cloth in warm or cold water and then squeezing it out.

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.

Nausea:

Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Eye irritation:

Wash your eyes with preservative-free saline water or apply a cold, wet washcloth. Don’t rub your eyes often.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
NEPABLU is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
NEPABLU is safe to use during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using this medicine.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or handle any machines while using this medicine as it may cause blurred vision.

ALLERGY
Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Nepafenac.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor, if you have or had:

Asthma
Skin allergy
Inflammation in nose when using other NSAIDs
Bleeding problems
Diabetes
Rheumatoid arthritis
Eye disorders or surgery
Wear contact lens

INTERACTIONS

Inform your doctor if you are using or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.

Warfarin (used to reduce blood clotting)
Other NSAIDs medicines
