INTRODUCTION

MYSOLINE 250MG contain primidone which belongs to a group of medicine called barbiturate anticonvulsants. It is used for the treatment of certain types of epilepsy, seizures (fits) or shaking attacks (essential tremor).

Epilepsy is a disorder of the brain characterized by repeated seizure. A seizure is usually defined as a sudden alteration of behavior due to a temporary change in the electrical functioning of the brain. Epilepsy also called as seizure disorder.

The common side effects are lack of energy (apathy), coordination disorders, visual disturbances, rolling of the eyes, nausea. MYSOLINE 250MG controls seizures (fits) or epilepsy or shaking attacks (essential tremor) by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

HOW MYSOLINE 250MG WORKS

MYSOLINE 250MG controls seizures (fits) or epilepsy or shaking attacks (essential tremor) by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger that suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take MYSOLINE 250MG exactly as your doctor has told you. MYSOLINE 250MG can be taken with or without food. Try to take this medicine at the same time each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

Nausea:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking,

• Medicines such as phenytoin, felbamate, valproic acid, carbamazepine, perampanel, lamotrigine, oxcarbazepine, stiripentol, tiagabine, zonisamide (used to treat epilepsy and other types of seizures)
• Anticoagulants such as acenocoumarol, fluindione, phenindione, warfarin, apixaban, dabigatran, rivaroxaban or ticagrelor (used to prevent blood clots)
• Medicine such as methadone, oxycodone, or fentanyl (used to treat severe pain, cough, or as a substitute for morphine addiction)
• Antibiotics such as metronidazole, doxycycline, telithromycine
• Asthma medicines such as theophylline, montelukast
• Hormone containing medicine such as the oral contraceptive pill, estroprogestatives, progestatives, ulipristal
• Thyroid hormones
• Medicines such as beta-blockers, nimodipine, class IA antiarythmics, calcium antagonists, bosentan, dronedarone, ivabradine, macitentan, propafenone, ranolazine (used to treat heart disease, high blood pressure or regulate cardiac rhythms)
• Immune suppressants such as cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus, everolimus (used to prevent rejection of an organ transplant and also for other diseases of the body’s immune system)
• Anti-fungal medicines such as voriconazole, albendazole, itraconazole, posaconazole
• Folates (vitamin B9)
• Deferasirox (iron-chelator)
• Ivacaftor (used to treat cystic fibrosis)
• Antiparasite agent such as albendazole, praziquantel
