INTRODUCTION
MAXPRIDE 200MG contains amisulpride which belongs to the group of medicines called antipsychotics. It is used to treat schizophrenia. Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder, in which you may feel, hear and see things which do not exist, have weird and frightening thoughts and make you feel alone. It may also make you feel tense, anxious or depressed.
Amisulpride acts by improving your abnormal behavior, disturbed thoughts and feelings. It can be used to treat both acute and chronic schizophrenia. Along with this treatment, your doctor might recommend you stop smoking and alcohol consumption, because it can affect the way the medicine works. Manage your stress levels by having plenty of sleep, meditation, deep breathing or by staying socially connected.
Take MAXPRIDE 200MG as directed by your physician. This medicine should be taken before meals. Contact your doctor for advice if these symptom bothers you. Before taking this medicine, inform your doctor if you have breast cancer, phaeochromocytoma or pituitary tumour. This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in children below 18 years of age. Discuss the benefits with your doctor. The most common side effects of taking this medicine are muscle stiffness, tremor, dizziness, sleepiness and blurred vision.

HOW MAXPRIDE 200MG WORKS
It works by blocking the receptors in brain that dopamine acts on and prevent the excessive activity of dopamine and helps to control psychotic illness such as abnormal motor activity, hallucinations, aggression and anxiety.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Take MAXPRIDE 200MG as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as whole with plenty of water before a meal. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.
SIDE EFFECTS OF MAXPRIDE 200MG
SERIOUS
- Allergic reaction such as swelling of the lips, face, throat or tongue, itchy, lumpy rush, difficulty in swallowing or breathing
- Frequent infections
- Fits
- Fever, sweating, stiff muscles, fast heartbeat, fast breathing and feel confused, drowsy or agitated (neuroleptic malignant syndrome)
- Unusual heart rate or chest pain
- Blood clots in the veins
COMMON
- Shaking of the body, muscle stiffness or spasm
- Slow movement, producing more saliva than usual
- Uncontrollable movements of arms and legs
- Insomnia (difficulty in sleeping)
- Feeling anxious or agitated
- Feeling dizzy, drowsy or sleepy
- Constipation
- Nausea or vomiting
- Dry mouth
- Weight gain
- Unusual production of breast milk in both women and men

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS
Nausea or vomiting:
Try taking this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.
Constipation:
Eat fibre rich foods like fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Exercise more regularly.
Dizziness:
Try to rest and relax. Do not drive or operate any machines while you feel dizzy.

BREASTFEEDING
MAXPRIDE 200MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines, because this medicine may cause drowsiness or blurred vision.
ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol while taking this medicine, because it can affect the way the medicine works.
KIDNEY
MAXPRIDE 200MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.
ALLERGY
Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to amisulpride or any other ingredients of this medicine.
HEART DISEASE
MAXPRIDE 200MG should be taken with caution in patients with heart problems. Consult your doctor for advice.
OTHERS
Inform your doctor, if you have:
- A history of epilepsy or seizures, history of blood clots, Parkinson’s disease, hypokalemia (low potassium levels in blood), diabetes, agranulocytosis (decreased white blood cells) or frequent infections (such as fever, severe chills, sore throat or mouth ulcers)
- Breast cancer, phaeochromocytoma (a tumor on adrenal gland) or pituitary tumour
INTERACTIONS
Talk to your doctor, if you are taking,
- Levodopa (used to treat Parkinson’s disease)
- Dopamine agonists (such as ropinirole and bromocriptine)
- Medicines used to reduce your heart rate (such as quinidine, disopyramide, amiodarone and sotalol)
- Medicines used to treat high blood pressure and heart problems (such as diltiazem, verapamil, guanfacine or digitalis)
- Other anti-psychotic medicines for mental problems
- Medicines used to treat severe pain (e.g. morphine, pethidine, tramadol and indomethacin)
- Medicines which induce hypokalemia such as hypokalaemic diuretics (e.g. spironolactone), IV amphotericin B, glucocorticoids or tetracosactides
- Medicines to make you sleep such as barbiturates (e.g. phenobarbitone) and benzodiazepines (e.g. diazepam)
- Halofantrine and mefloquine (used to treat malaria)
- Anaesthetics (medicine which induces loss of sensation or consciousness)
- Promethazine (used to treat nausea, allergies and sleep disturbances)
- Bepridil (used to treat chest pain)
- Clonidine (used to treat migraines, flushing or for high blood pressure)
- Cisapride (used to treat GI problems)
- Intravenous erythromycin and sparfloxacin (used to treat infections)
- Intravenous vincamine (used to improve blood flow in the brain)
- Pentamidine (used to treat chest infections)
