Medical Description

Macpod 200 tablet is an antibiotic, used for the treatment of bacterial infection. It is used in the treatment of certain bacterial infections like pneumonia, bronchitis and other infections associated with the skin, nose, throat, urinary tract, etc. Macpod 200 contains cefpodoxime as an active ingredient. It should preferably be taken with meals to avoid stomach discomfort. Complete the entire course of the medicine, do not stop the medicine halfway, even if you feel better. Since abrupt stopping of the medicine results in treatment failure and increase the risk of re-infection. Before starting the treatment, you should inform the doctor about your detailed medical history and all the medicines you are already taking to avoid possible adverse effects.

Contraindications of Macpod 200 MG

If you are allergic to cefpodoxime or any other ingredients of the Macpod 200 tablet. If you have a history of a severe allergic reaction to penicillin or other beta-Lactam antibiotics.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
You have any problems with your kidney, as it may reduce the urine output due to kidney insufficiency and the doctor might reduce the dose.
You are already taking other medicines like water pills or any other antibiotics for other health conditions.
You may experience watery and bloody diarrhoea.
You had or have a stomach and intestinal disease.
You are using any beta-lactam antibacterial agents.
You have a history of an allergic reaction to cephalosporins or Penicillins.
You experience any severe allergic reactions after taking Macpod 200 tablet.
The use of Macpod 200 tablet in the absence of a proven or strongly suspected bacterial infection may increase the risk of the development of drug-resistant bacteria.

How Does It Work?
Cefpodoxime in the Macpod 200 tablet works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall, which ultimately leads to the death of bacteria and prevents the spread of infection.

Directions for Use of Macpod 200 MG

Macpod 200 tablet is supposed to be taken orally. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take this medicine as instructed by your doctor. Do not stop or change your dose unless your doctor tells you to.

Interactions with other medicines

Dosage of Macpod 200 MG

Overdose
Macpod 200 tablet overdose results in diarrhoea, abdominal pain, seizures, nausea, vomiting and headache. Inform your doctor immediately in case of excessive consumption.
Missed a Dose
The missed dose should be taken as soon you recall it and a double dose should be avoided at any cost. If it is time for the impending dose, then the missed dose should be skipped.
