Lupifos Powder 8 gm belongs to a class of drugs called ‘antibiotics‘ used to treat bacterial infections. A Lupifos Powder 8 gm in powder and granules form is used to prevent or treat the urinary tract’s bacterial infections. Lupifos Powder 8 gm in injection form is used to treat bacterial infections of bones, lung, brain, bladder and kidney. A bacterial infection is a condition in which harmful bacteria grows in the body and cause infection. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.

The Lupifos Powder 8 gm contains Fosfomycin that works by inhibiting the formation of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) necessary for survival. Thereby, kills bacteria. Also, Lupifos Powder 8 gm decreases the attachment of bacteria to cells lining the urinary bladder, thereby preventing bladder infection caused by E Coli bacteria.

In some cases, you may experience dizziness, headache, indigestion, vaginal inflammation, stomach pain, retching (nearly vomit) or rash with redness of the skin. If you have high blood pressure, hypernatraemia (high levels of sodium in the blood), hyperaldosteronism (excessive production of aldosterone hormone), pulmonary oedema (accumulation of fluid in the lungs), kidney or heart problems, inform your doctor before taking Lupifos Powder 8 gm.

Directions for Use

Use Lupifos Powder 8 gm as prescribed by a doctor. Lupifos Powder 8 gm in oral form should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime after emptying the bladder. Dissolve the contents of Lupifos Powder 8 gm in a glass of water, mix it and consume immediately. The injection form of Lupifos Powder 8 gm is given as an intravenous (into a vein) infusion (drip) by a doctor or nurse. Do not self-administer.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Lupifos Powder 8 gm may have interaction with medicines used to prevent nausea and vomiting (metoclopramide), anti-inflammatory drug (balsalazide), probiotics (bifidobacterium infantis, lactobacillus acidophilus, lactobacillus reuteri, lactobacillus rhamnosus, lactobacillus rhamnosus gg), typhoid live vaccine, immunotherapy (Bacillus Calmette-Guerin), cholera live vaccine.
