LTK 50 Tablet (Losartan 50mg)

INTRODUCTION

LTK 50MG contains Losartan which belongs to a group of medicines known as angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB). It is used to treat high blood pressure alone or with other blood pressure medicines. It also lowers the chance of stroke in patients with high blood pressure and a heart problem called left ventricular hypertrophy. Lowering blood pressure lowers the risk of strokes and myocardial infarction.

It is indicated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy with an elevated serum creatinine and proteinuria in patients with type 2 diabetes and a history of hypertension. LTK 50MG lowers your blood pressure by relaxing and widening your blood vessels thus making it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.

Take this medicine according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break the medicine. Before taking, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems. This medicine is not recommended for children less than 6 years of age. The common side effects such as upper respiratory infection, dizziness, stuffy nose, back pain, diarrhea, low blood sugar, chest pain and low blood pressure.

High Blood Pressure (hypertension)

Type 2 diabetes with Nephropathy in patients who have or had high blood pressure

HOW LTK 50MG WORKS

LTK 50MG relaxes and widens the blood vessels. This action lowers the blood pressure and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood around your body.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take this medicine according to the dose and frequency as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush or break the medicine. It may be taken with or without food.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhea:

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
Use of this medicine during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters may cause teratogenicity and severe fetal and neonatal toxicity therefore it should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor before taking.

BREASTFEEDING
LTK 50MG should be used with caution in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

KIDNEY
LTK 50MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
LTK 50MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Losartan or any ingredients of this medicine.

OTHERS
Tell your doctor if you had or have a condition such as:

Diabetes
Vomiting or diarrhea

INTERACTIONS

Inform your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

Aliskiren
Potassium supplements
Salt substitutes containing potassium
Diuretics
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs
Other medicines to reduce blood pressure
