Lipicard 160 Tablet (Fenofibrate 160mg)

Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s belongs to a group of medication called ‘fibric acid derivatives‘ or ‘fibrates‘ primarily used for the treatment of raised or increased level of cholesterol or fat/oils. Hyperlipidemia or hypertriglyceridemia is a condition in which there is a high level of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) or bad cholesterol and a decreased level of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) or good cholesterol. Increased level of bad cholesterol leads to a high risk of heart attack and stroke in future, especially for heart disease patients.

Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s contains ‘fenofibrate‘ which Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s works by increasing the natural substance that breaks down fats in the bloodstream thereby increasing its utilization and removal. As a result, Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s decreases the harmful cholesterol like LDL (bad cholesterol), triglycerides (TG) and increases levels of HDL (good cholesterol).

Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s is available in both oral capsules. The capsule form of fenofibrate can be taken with or without food and swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. Always take the medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s has to be taken preferably after meals. Some people may experience nausea, chest pain, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, muscle pain, redness/swelling in legs and increased liver enzymes. Most of these side effects of fenofibrate do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to fenofibrate or other fibric acids derivative, please tell your doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it is advised to inform your doctor before using fenofibrate. Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s is not recommended for children below 6 years of age, as the safety and effectiveness were not established. If you experience yellowing of the skin (Jaundice), allergic reaction, cramps or weak muscles then immediately contact your doctor.

High cholesterol

Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s contains ‘fenofibrate‘ which is used along with a proper diet to help lower ‘bad cholesterol’ (LDL, TG -triglycerides) and raise ‘good cholesterol’ (HDL) in the blood. Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s is also used with statins to lower raised cholesterol. Besides this, Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s also helps in the treatment of raised cholesterol in diabetes and high blood pressure patients as well.

Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water at the start of a meal or slightly before. It is usually taken once a day. Do not chew or crush it.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

Most of the side effects of Lipicard-160 Tablet 10’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Tell your doctor if any of these common side effects like muscle pain, stuffy/runny nose, headache, joint pain and increased liver enzymes.
