Lenmid 10 Capsule

Lenmid 10 Capsule is used in the treatment of myelodysplastic syndrome, a group of blood disorders characterized by immature cells. It is also used in a combination with dexamethasone for the treatment of multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer. This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women as well as in patients less than 18 years of age.

Uses of Lenmid 10 Capsule

What is it prescribed for?
Multiple Myeloma
This medicine is used in a combination with dexamethasone to treat multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer.
Myelodysplastic syndrome
This medicine is used for the treatment of patients suffering from transfusion-dependent anemia due to low- or intermediate-1-risk myelodysplastic syndrome associated with a deletion of 5q cytogenetic abnormality with or without additional cytogenic abnormalities.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to lenalidomide or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.
Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women due to the increased risk of harmful effects on the unborn baby.

Breast-feeding
This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. Your doctor may advise you to discontinue breastfeeding for a specific period of time or prescribe an alternative medicine based on your clinical condition.
General warnings
Renal impairment
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Regular monitoring of kidney function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Hepatic Failure
This medicine should be used with extreme caution due to the increased risk of liver failure. This risk is especially higher when it is used in a combination with dexamethasone. Regular monitoring of liver function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Thyroid Disorders
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Regular monitoring of thyroid function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Contraception and sexual intercourse
Female patients of child-bearing potential should always use at least 2 methods of reliable birth control to avoid pregnancy during treatment with this medicine. Contraception must begin at least 4 weeks prior to beginning therapy and continue for at least 4 weeks after discontinuation of therapy.

Male patients receiving this medicine should always use a latex or synthetic condom during any sexual contact with females of child-bearing potential while taking this medicine and for up to 28 days after discontinuation of therapy.
Use in children
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy of use are not clinically established.

Dosage

Missed Dose
The missed dose should be taken as soon as possible. It is advisable to skip the missed dose if it is already time for your next scheduled dose. Do not use extra medicine to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

General Instructions

Take this medicine with or without food. Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than advised/prescribed. Your dose is likely to change during the duration of the therapy based on your clinical condition and therapeutic response. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
