Description

Lariago 500 MG Tablet is an antimalarial medication which is used for the treatment as well as prophylaxis of malaria. This medicine is also used to treat amebiasis which is a parasitic infection that affects the intestine and amebic liver abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica. Liver function and blood cell count monitoring is necessary while receiving this medicine. It may also be used for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (a joint disorder) in certain specific circumstances, especially if other medicines are not effective. What is it prescribed for?
Malaria prophylaxis
This medicine is used as a prophylactic treatment for malaria in individuals who are traveling to malaria-prone countries and those who are living in malaria areas having little or no immunity to malaria.
Malaria
This medicine is used for the treatment of malaria characterized by muscle pain, fever with chills and fatigue.
Amebiasis
This medicine is used to treat amebiasis which is a parasitic infection that affects the intestine and amebic liver abscess caused by Entamoeba histolytica.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to chloroquine, 4-aminoquinolones, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.
Retinal or visual field changes
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with any vision impairment due to the risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Psoriasis
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with active psoriasis (a skin disorder characterized by dry and scaly patches) as it may worsen the patient’s condition.
Porphyria
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with porphyria (a condition where there is an excess buildup of porphyrin in the body) as it may worsen the patient’s condition.

This medicine may lower the blood cell count if taken for a longer time. Close monitoring of complete blood cell count is necessary. Discontinue the treatment if any signs of low blood cell count appear. It should be used with caution in patients with glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.
Hearing problem
This medicine may increase the risk of hearing problems and hence should be used with extreme caution in patients with existing auditory defects or problems. Dosage

Missed Dose
