Glycomet 250 MG Tablet is an antihyperglycemic medicine used to control high blood sugar levels. It is the first preferred medicine effectively used in people with type II diabetes (a condition where your body cannot produce sufficient insulin or resists insulin).

Glycomet 250 MG Tablet helps in insulin production, which in turn reduces the excess blood sugar levels in your body. It also helps in minimizing the risk of diabetes-associated complications such as blindness, kidney damage, stroke (decreased blood flow to your brain), and heart attack. Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels is necessary while taking this tablet.

Type II Diabetes Mellitus
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a health condition that occurs due to the excess blood sugar levels in your body. This results in decreased insulin (hormone produced by the pancreas) production that is responsible for the conversion of glucose from the food taken into the form of energy. Diabetes is of 2 types- type I DM (no production of insulin) and type II DM (insulin resistance). Glycomet 250 MG Tablet is used to reduce blood glucose levels in people with type 2 diabetes of both adults and children.
Polycystic Ovary Syndrome
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that results due to the enlargement of ovaries with cysts developed in the outer lining of the ovary. This mainly occurs in women of reproductive age due to hormonal imbalance or prolonged menstrual cycle. Glycomet 250 MG Tablet is also sometimes used in treating Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS).

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Glycomet 250 MG Tablet or any other formulation containing it if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of your face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Metabolic Acidosis
Glycomet 250 MG Tablet should be avoided for use if you have metabolic acidosis (electrolyte disorder with altered acid-base balance in your body) since it may worsen your condition.
Severe kidney impairment
Do not take Glycomet 250 MG Tablet if you have severe kidney impairment with changes in serum creatinine levels or abnormal creatinine clearance as it may worsen your health condition due to severe side effects.

General warnings
Kidney diseases
Glycomet 250 MG Tablet may cause damage to the kidneys when used in the presence of kidney problems. Close monitoring of kidney function may be required.
Stress
Use of Glycomet 250 MG Tablet should be discontinued in people exposed to stressful conditions such as a fever, trauma (severe injury), surgeries, or accidents since it may not be effective in controlling blood sugar levels in these conditions.
Type I diabetes
Glycomet 250 MG Tablet is not recommended for use in people having Type I diabetes (a condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin) since it is not effective in treating such cases.
Diarrhoea

Dosage
