Mode of Action of Gardenal 30 MG
How Does It Work?
Gardenal 30 mg is a psychotherapeutic medicine that works as a sedative or hypnotic. It contains the salt phenobarbitone, which belongs to the category of anticonvulsants. It suppresses the abnormal activity of the GABA- gamma-aminobutyric acid. It acts on stopping the synaptic activity. It is a potent BZD- benzodiazepine, which decreases the rapid firing of neurons in the brain, thus producing a relaxing effect on the brain. GABA is a chemical messenger in the brain, which is responsible for unusual brain activity. Phenobarbitone also decreases the excitation transmissions in the brain by inhibiting the calcium channel blockers. All of these activities take place in the central nervous system.
