About Fluracil 250mg Injection
FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION belongs to a group of anti-cancer medicines called ‘antimetabolite’ used to treat breast, skin, colon, rectum and stomach cancer. Cancer is a disease in which abnormal cells divide uncontrollably and destroy body tissue. Some of the body’s cells begin to divide into all cancer types without stopping and spread into surrounding tissues. Cancer can be localized (benign) or spread to the whole body (metastasized).
FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION contains ‘Fluorouracil’ that works by interfering with the growth of genetic material (DNA and RNA) of the cancer cells. This prevents the cancer cells from multiplying and growing and eventually kills them. FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION is used as chemotherapy for colon cancer, oesophageal (food pipe) cancer, stomach cancer, pancreatic cancer, breast cancer and cervical cancer.
Take FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical conditions. You may experience nausea, vomiting, weakness, loss of appetite, increased risk of infection, hair loss, diarrhoea, decreased blood cells (red cells, white cells, and platelets), mouth ulcers, blisters on fingers/feet. During the first few weeks of treatment, the skin lesions and surrounding areas will feel irritated and look red, swollen and scaly. This is a sign that FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION (cream) is working. Most of these side effects of FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
To treat your condition effectually continue taking FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Do not stop FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION midway. Talk to your doctor before taking FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION if you have allergies, a metabolic disorder called DPD (dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase) deficiency, heart problems, one marrow depression, kidney disease, liver disease, and treatment with chemotherapy or radiation inform your doctor. Directions for Use
FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION is available in the form of Injection and topical (skin use) cream.Injection: FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION will be administered by a healthcare professional. Do not self-administer FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION . Based on your medical condition, your doctor will decide how long you need to take FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION .Cream: Clean and dry the affected area. Then, apply a thin layer of the medicine to the affected area. Wash your hands before and after use. Use the medicine as recommended by your doctor. Do not take more than the recommended dose or do not abruptly stop the medication without the doctor’s advice. Do not apply to broken skin or open wounds. Do not apply this medication in the eyes. If the medication gets accidentally into the eyes, rinse with water thoroughly.

Some patients may experience a sensitivity to light while taking FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION , it is recommended to avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant because this FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION can cause harmful effects on the unborn baby. Both women and men using this FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION should use birth control to avoid pregnancy. The use of this FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION by either parent may result in congenital disabilities. You should not take this FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION during breastfeeding, inform your doctor if you take FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION . Use the FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION with caution in elderly patients. If you have had leukaemia (blood cancer) and are in remission, do not take live vaccines 3 months after your last chemotherapy. You and people in your direct contact, such as family members should not take the polio vaccine. Avoid using FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION (cream) on open wounds, damaged or broken skin. Do not wrap or cover the treated area with airtight dressings unless advised by a doctor. Avoid smoking or going near naked flames as the fabric (bedding, clothing, dressings) in contact with FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION catches fire and burns easily. Washing clothing and bedding may reduce product build-up but not totally remove it.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interactions: FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION interacts with other anti-cancer medicines (methotrexate, cisplatin, cytarabine, mitomycin-C, tamoxifen), antibiotic (metronidazole), medicines used to reduce the harmful effects of anti-cancer medicines (calcium leucovorin), a medicine used to treat gout (allopurinol), a medicine used to treat stomach ulcers (cimetidine), blood thinner (warfarin), antivirals (interferon-alpha 2a, brivudine, sorivudine), anti-epilepsy medicine (phenytoin), vaccines (rubella, mumps, measles, BCG, shingles).

Drug-Disease Interactions: FLURACIL 250MG INJECTION should not be given to patients with myelosuppression (bone marrow activity is decreased), dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPD) enzyme deficiency, stomatitis, infections, bleeding disorder and coronary artery disease.
