Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm belongs to the class of medications called ‘Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs‘ (NSAID) used to relieve pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal disorders, strain, sprain, arthritis and low back pain. Musculoskeletal pain could occur due to arthritis, osteoporosis, fractures, dislocations, problems with the bone structure or injury to the bones, joints, tendons, muscles and ligaments. Osteoarthritis is a joint disease in which the two ends of the joints come together due to breakdown of a protective covering called cartilage.

DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm is a combination of five drugs: Diclofenac, Capsaicin, Methyl salicylate, Linseed, and Menthol. Diclofenac and Methyl salicylate are pain killers which work by blocking the effect of a chemical messenger known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes that make another chemical prostaglandin (PG). By blocking COX enzyme’s effect, lesser PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain and inflammation at the injured or damaged site. Capsaicin is a natural extract of chilli pepper which work by blocking the pain messengers to the nerves. Linseed oil possesses anti-inflammatory agent which inhibits inflammatory mediators like leukotrienes (LK), thereby reducing inflammation. On the other hand, Menthol is a soothing and cooling agent which provides cooling sensation by dilating the blood vessels, followed by an analgesic effect. It also enhances the penetration of drugs. Together, Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm helps provide relief from mild to moderate pain in various types of musculoskeletal and joints conditions.

DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm is for external use only. Take pea-sized amount onto your fingers and apply it on the affected areas. You are advised to use Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as application site reactions like itching, irritation, redness and burning sensation. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm can increase your risk of fatal heart attack or stroke. So, if you have had any recent heart surgery, do not use Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm. DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm increases the chances of stomach ulcers and bleeding. Do not take DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed. DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm is not recommended for children below 14years as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid or limit exposure to natural or artificial sunlight as Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm may cause ultraviolet light-induced skin tumours. Do not take any other NSAID’s for pain relief along with Diclotal-Forte Gel 30 gm unless prescribed.

If DiclotalForte Gel 30 gm comes in contact with eyes, nose or mouth rinse with water immediately.
