Description

CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet is a combination of Telmisartan and Chlorthalidone. It is an anti-hypertensive medicine used in the treatment of high blood pressure. It relaxes the blood vessels and removes excess water and sodium from the body. It also reduces your chances of having a heart attack or stroke when used for a long term.

CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet shows common side effects like tiredness, nausea, headache, diarrhoea, and upset stomach. Consult your doctor if the side effects persist for a long time. It may cause dizziness, so get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying down position.

CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet can be taken with or without food. It contains a diuretic (water pill) and will make you urinate more, so avoid taking it before four hours of going to bed. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor. There is a high risk of heart attack and stroke if CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet is stopped abruptly.

CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet may interact with other medications. Inform your doctor if you have any medical conditions of your heart, liver or kidney and if you are taking any medications. Your doctor may advise you to get your blood pressure and heart function monitored regularly while you are under treatment with CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding. This medicine is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.

When not to use?

Allergy
CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet is not recommended for use if you are allergic to any of the components of this medicine. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice allergic reactions such as hives (painful eruptions that itch and sting), difficulty in breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Aliskiren
Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) is not recommended to be taken along with CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet due to the increased risk of kidney damage. This risk is especially higher in the elderly and in people with diabetes and kidney problems.
Anuria
Anuria is a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine. Chlorthalidone is present in CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet acts by removing excess water and sodium from your body. CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet is not recommended if you have anuria as it may further damage your kidneys.
Severe kidney impairment
Taking CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet when your kidneys are severely damaged is not recommended as this medicine may accumulate in the kidneys that may worsen the condition of your damaged kidneys.
Severe liver impairment
CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet is not recommended to be taken in severe liver damage as it may cause accumulation of the medicine in the liver and worsen the condition further.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forget to take a dose of CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not double the dose.
Overdose
Do not take CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet more than the prescribed dose. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

General Instructions

Take CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet orally with or without food.
Do not chew, crush or break the tablet.
You should not take larger amounts than that prescribed.
Do not stop taking the medicine before completion of the course or without consulting your doctor as it may cause withdrawal symptoms.
CTD-T 12.5/80 Tablet may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and inform your doctor if you develop extreme thirst, very dry mouth or muscle weakness.
It may cause dizziness so get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects.
Making certain lifestyle changes like regular exercise, weight control, avoid smoking, limiting alcohol use, and lowering the quantity of salt will also help to decrease your blood pressure.
