Crisanta Tablet

Crisanta LS Tablet is a combination of Drospirenone and Ethinyl Estradiol. It is used as an oral contraceptive to prevent unwanted pregnancy. It works by preventing the fertilization of the egg.

Crisanta LS Tablet may also be used for the treatment of moderate acne (pimples) in women above 14 years of age who have started having periods and choose to use birth control pills.

Crisanta LS Tablet may cause some side effects like nausea, vomiting, headache, abdominal pain, weight change, irregular periods, slight bleeding between periods, breast tenderness, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it. Avoid smoking during treatment with Crisanta LS Tablet as it may increase the risk of blood clots, heart attack, or stroke (brain damage due to the interrupted blood supply to the brain).

Crisanta LS Tablet is a prescription medicine. It should be taken every day for 24 days, starting from the first day of your menstrual cycle (first day of bleeding) or as prescribed by your doctor. Take Crisanta LS Tablet at the same time every day for the ease of remembering. Make sure you do not miss a dose, as you are more likely to become pregnant if you are taking this medicine as an oral contraceptive.

Crisanta LS Tablet should be avoided if you have heart, liver, or kidney problems, stroke, untreated or uncontrolled high blood pressure, undiagnosed vaginal bleeding, or liver, breast, or uterus/cervix cancer. Inform your doctor if you have other medical conditions before taking this medicine.

Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended in women yet to achieve menarche (the first occurrence of menstruation) or after menopause (the end of the menstrual cycles). It is not recommended for use if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Acne (Acne vulgaris) is a long-term skin condition that occurs due to the blockage of the hair follicles in the skin. These blocked hair follicles then become inflamed or infected with bacteria leading to whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, pustules, or cysts. Crisanta LS Tablet is used in treating moderate acne in women above 14 years of age who have started having periods and choose to use birth control pills.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Crisanta LS Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, difficulty breathing, etc.
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you experience episodes of abnormal vaginal bleeding that has not been diagnosed, as this medicine may worsen your condition.
Heart and blood vessel disorder
Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have any heart or blood vessels disorders such as Deep Vein Thrombosis (blood clots that form in the deep veins of the body, usually in the thigh or lower leg), pulmonary embolism (blood clots that block one or more arteries in the lung), recent heart attack, stroke (a condition that occurs due to reduced blood supply to the brain), other blood clotting disorders, etc. Taking this medicine may worsen your condition.
Estrogen-dependent tumor
Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have or have had cancer that is attributed to abnormal levels of the hormone oestrogen in your body such as breast or uterus cancer.
Liver disease or tumour
Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have liver problems or liver tumour, as it may further worsen your condition.
Uncontrolled hypertension
Crisanta LS Tablet may cause an increase in blood pressure. Hence, it is not recommended for use if you have untreated or uncontrolled hypertension (high blood pressure) as it may further worsen your condition.
Kidney Disease
Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have kidney problems due to the increased risk of hyperkalaemia (high blood potassium levels). This may further worsen your condition.
Migraine with Aura
A migraine with aura is a severe headache that occurs along with other symptoms such as dizziness, ringing in the ears, sensitivity to light, other vision changes, loss of muscle control, etc. Crisanta LS Tablet is not recommended for use if you have migraine, especially migraine with aura, as it may worsen your condition. It may also increase the risk of stroke.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Crisanta LS Tablet, contact your doctor immediately for further instructions. The instructions may vary based on the day and the doses you have missed. The possibility of pregnancy should be considered at the first missed period, and the medicine should be discontinued on confirmation of pregnancy.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention in case of an overdose of Crisanta LS Tablet.

General Instructions

Crisanta LS Tablet may be taken with or without food. Follow all the instructions given by your doctor while taking this medicine. Do not take more or fewer doses than prescribed.

Inform your doctor about your medication history before starting treatment with Crisanta LS Tablet to avoid undesired effects.

Crisanta LS Tablet does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases. Also, it will not help as an emergency contraceptive after unprotected sexual contact.
