Cor 9 500mg/2ml Injection (Hydroxyprogesterone 250mg)

INTRODUCTION

Cor 9 500mg/2ml contains Hydroxy progesterone which belongs to the group of medicines called progestins. It is a hormone medicine used to lower the risk of preterm birth in women with a singleton pregnancy who had a preterm delivery in the past. Hydroxyprogesterone is a synthetic steroid hormone, which reduces the chances of preterm labour and helps to sustain a healthy pregnancy. It is not intended to stop an active preterm labor in pregnant women. It is not used in pregnant women with multiple gestations or in women with any other risk factors for preterm birth. This medicine should never be self-administered and must be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse as an intramuscular injection.

Your doctor will regularly monitor your blood sugar levels, if you have diabetes or pre-diabetes to avoid the risks of decrease in glucose tolerance. The most common side effects of this medicine are injection site pain, swelling or itching, nausea, skin rash and diarrhea. Contact your doctor if any of these symptom bothers you. COR9 500MG is also not recommended for use in pregnant women with uncontrollable high blood pressure and in women with liver or kidney problems. This medicine is not intended for use in children and adolescents under 16 years of age. Consult your doctor before taking.

Prevents preterm labour in pregnant women

HOW Cor 9 500mg/2ml WORKS

COR9 500MG reduces the risk of premature labour in pregnant women by exerting an anti-inflammatory effect on the CNS, which profoundly blunts the proinflammatory state that occurs with initiation of labor and stabilizes pregnancy.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

COR9 500MG will be given to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the muscles (intramuscularly) of the upper outer area of the buttocks as an injection, anywhere between 16-20 weeks of your pregnancy and may last until 37 weeks or until baby is delivered.

Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration for you depending upon your condition. Continue to take this medicine, as long as your doctor tells you to do so, to obtain better results.

SIDE EFFECTS OF COR9 500MG

SERIOUS
Symptoms of a blood clot (such as leg swelling and redness, a spot on your leg that is warm to touch and leg pain that gets worse when you bend your foot)
Severe allergic reactions (such as hives, itching and swelling of the face)
Decrease in glucose tolerance
Fluid retention
Depression
Jaundice (yellowing of skin and eyes)
High blood pressure

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS Cor 9 500mg/2ml

Nausea:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after meals. Stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.

Diarrhea:

Drink lots of fluids, such as water or juice, to avoid dehydration. Do not take any medicines without speaking to a doctor.

Hives or itching:

Avoid hot showers because hot water can irritate the skin. Do not rub or scratch the affected area. Use sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors. Regularly use moisturizers to soothe and hydrate the affected area. If it does not get better, speak to a doctor.
