About Clincitop Gel 20 gm
Clincitop Gel 20 gm belongs to the class of medication called ‘lincosamide antibiotics‘ primarily used to treat bacterial skin infections like acne (pimples), infections of abdomen, bone, skin, heart and soft tissues. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Clincitop Gel 20 gm will not work for viral infections, such as common cold and flu.
Clincitop Gel 20 gm contains ‘Clindamycin’ that works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, which stops bacterial growth. It shows a bacteriostatic effect, which prevents the multiplication of bacteria but doesn’t kill them. Clincitop Gel 20 gm effectively treats infections caused by gram-positive and anaerobic (living without air) bacteria, including susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Clostridium perfringens. Clincitop Gel 20 gm treats serious infections caused by susceptible anaerobic bacteria in the abdomen, gastrointestinal tract, lower respiratory tract, on the skin, and in the genitourinary area.
Clincitop Gel 20 gm is available in the form of oral, topical, intravenous, and intramuscular formulations. The oral forms of Clincitop Gel 20 gm include capsule and powder for solution. Swallow the capsule as a whole with a glass of water with or without food. Do not chew, crush or break it. Topical forms of Clincitop Gel 20 gm include gel, cream, and lotion. Intravenous and intramuscular forms of Clincitop Gel 20 gm are injected into the body with the help of a syringe. Like all medicines, Clincitop Gel 20 gm also causes side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects of Clincitop Gel 20 gm include stomach pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, heartburn, joint pain/swelling, dark urine, and abnormal liver function tests.

Let your doctor know if have any liver disease, kidney disease, gastrointestinal diseases (colitis, an inflammation of the colon), and allergic conditions (asthma, hay fever, eczema). Do not use Clincitop Gel 20 gm while having vaccinations with live bacterial vaccines (typhoid vaccine) since Clincitop Gel 20 gm may affect vaccines’ activity. The injection form of Clincitop Gel 20 gm may sometimes contain benzyl alcohol as a preservative, which can cross the placenta in pregnant and cause gasping syndrome (multi-organ failure) in the paediatric patients. Hence, Clincitop Gel 20 gm should be used only with doctor’s advice during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Sometimes, antibiotic medications can cause antibiotic resistance.
