Basugine Pen (Insulin Glargine)

Description

Basugine Pen is used for the treatment of diabetes in children and adults. It is a long-acting insulin that consistently works for several hours after injection and provides effective blood sugar control throughout the day.

Basugine Pen may result in low blood sugar levels and you may feel hungry, irritable, dizzy, anxious, or shaky. It is always recommended to eat or drink a fast-acting source of sugar (fruit juice, candy, raisins, etc.) to quickly treat these symptoms. Consult your doctor if these symptoms stay for a long time or if they become severe. Other side effects include weight gain and reaction at the injection side such as redness, itchiness and swelling in the skin, thickening of the skin, etc. Avoid consumption of alcohol as it may also lower your blood sugar levels.

Basugine Pen should be administered exactly as advised by your doctor. This medicine is injected under your skin. Take it at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of this medicine in your body. Do not skip doses or discontinue the treatment without consulting your doctor as it may cause an increase in your blood sugar levels. Follow a proper diet routine and do regular exercise along with this medicine to get the best results.

Basugine Pen is not recommended if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems. Do not use this medicine in children below 6 years of age. If you are pregnant or are planning a pregnancy or breastfeeding, take this medication only if prescribed by your doctor.

Basugine Pen is used in the treatment of Type 1 Diabetes mellitus, a lifelong condition in which your pancreas do not produce sufficient insulin to control the blood sugar levels.
Type II Diabetes Mellitus
Basugine Pen is used in the treatment of Type II Diabetes Mellitus, a lifelong condition in which the insulin produced by your body cannot be used properly by the cells to convert glucose into energy.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Basugine Pen if you are allergic to it. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Basugine Pen, contact your doctor for further instructions. You should not use more than one dose in a 24-hour period unless specifically instructed by your doctor.
Overdose
Seek immediate medical attention or contact your doctor if an overdose of Basugine Pen is suspected. Hypoglycaemia (low blood glucose levels) may occur in case of an overdose with symptoms such as extreme weakness, blurred vision, sweating, trouble speaking, tremors, dizziness, confusion, etc. In cases of mild hypoglycemic episodes, oral glucose or sugary products can be used to avoid severe hypoglycaemia.
