Aten-50 Tablet 14’s belongs to a group of heart disease-related medicines known as beta-blockers. It helps in the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias), chest pain with painful tightness in the chest (angina pectoris), and protects the heart in the early treatment after a heart attack (myocardial infarction). High blood pressure increases the heart’s workload, and if it continues for a long time, the heart and blood vessels (arteries) may not function properly. It can damage the arteries of the brain, heart, and kidneys, resulting in a stroke, heart failure, or kidney failure. However, lowering blood pressure may reduce the risk of stroke and heart attacks.

Aten-50 Tablet 14’s contains atenolol, which primarily helps relax our blood vessels by blocking the action of certain natural substances in your body. Thus, Aten-50 Tablet 14’s helps lower your raised blood pressure and reduce the risk of having a stroke, a heart attack, other heart problems, or kidney problems in the future.

You can take Aten-50 Tablet 14’s with food or before/after a meal. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience headaches, cold hands/feet, diarrhoea, feeling sick (nausea), feeling tired, aching and tired muscles, depressed mood, and dizziness. Most of these side effects of Aten-50 Tablet 14’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Try not to stop taking this medicine of your own as it may raise your blood pressure and increase the chance of having a heart attack. Inform your doctor if you are suffering from any kidney or liver, heart disease, or diabetes. You should not take Aten-50 Tablet 14’s or consult a doctor if you have asthma, wheezing or any other breathing problems, allergic reactions (like insect stings), chest pain (prinzmetal’s angina), poor blood circulation, first stage heart block, diabetes, fast heart beating, thyrotoxicosis (overactive thyroid gland), kidney failure. Aten-50 Tablet 14’s may mask some of the symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) and overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), so regular blood sugar level and thyroid profile monitoring is required.

Directions for Use

Drug Warnings

You should not use Aten-50 Tablet 14’s if you have a very slow heartbeat, asthma, serious heart condition (sick sinus syndrome), or any heart blockage. Before taking Aten-50 Tablet 14’s, you should tell the doctor if you have any muscle disorder (myasthenia gravis, rhabdomyolysis), breathing problem (COPD, bronchitis, emphysema), low blood sugar level (hypoglycaemia), low blood pressure (hypotension), depression, previous heart failure, liver/kidney disease, thyroid hormone disorder, adrenal gland cancer, or problems with circulation (Raynaud’s syndrome).

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: Aten-50 Tablet 14’s is known to interact with other blood pressure-lowering drugs (acebutolol, bisoprolol, carteolol, esmolol, metoprolol, nadolol, nebivolol, sotalol, lisinopril, enalapril, diltiazem, prazosin, terazosin, doxazosin), asthma medications (like theophylline), pain killers (ibuprofen, indomethacin), insulin, and heart-related medicines (disopyramide, quinidine, amiodarone, digoxin, adrenaline, epinephrine).

Drug-Food Interactions: Aten-50 Tablet 14’s severely interact with grapefruit and rich protein foods. Hence it should not be taken with Aten-50 Tablet 14’s. Using Aten-50 Tablet 14’s together with multivitamins/minerals may decrease the effects of Aten-50 Tablet 14’s. If it is necessary to take, you should maintain at least 2 hours time period between the administration of Aten-50 Tablet 14’s and multivitamins/minerals.

Drug-Disease Interactions: Aten-50 Tablet 14’s should not be given to people with diabetes, asthma, cardiogenic shock (when the heart fails to pump required blood to the body), heart valve problem (stenosis), low blood pressure (hypotension), coronary heart disease, liver disease or heart failure.
