Tamsukem 0.4 Tablet (Tamsulosin 0.4mg)

INTRODUCTION

TAMSUKEM contain tamsulosin which belongs to a group of medicine called alpha blockers. It is used to treat the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) which include difficult urination, urinary dribbling, strong urge to urination, frequent urination during night as well as during day.

Benign prostatic hyperplasia is a common condition in aged men where the prostate gland gets enlarged causing uncomfortable urinary symptoms such as blocking the flows of urine out of the bladder.

This medicine is strictly not recommended for use in children and adolescents under 18 years. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have ever had kidney disease, heart disease, liver problems. It is not recommended for women and children. You should avoid drinking caffeinated or alcoholic drinks at night and a few hours before going to bed or going out. Pregnant and breastfeeding women should consult their doctor before taking this medicine.

HOW TAMSUKEM WORKS

TAMSUKEM works by relaxing the muscles around the bladder exit and prostate gland, so urine is passed more easily. This help empty the bladder completely and reduce the need to pass urine frequently or urgently in BPH.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Always take TAMSUKEM exactly as your doctor has told you. Take this medicine one time each day, about 30 minutes after the same meal each day. It should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SIDE EFFECTS OF TAMSUKEM

SERIOUS
Decreased blood pressure when changing positions (symptoms includes fainting, dizziness, lightheadedness)
Allergic reactions include rash, itching, hives
Serious allergic reactions include swelling of face, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing
Painful erection
Eye problems during cataract or glaucoma surgery
Hypersensitivity reaction with purplish spots or patches on the skin, blistering of the skin, peeling of the skin, fever, joint pain, eye inflammation (Stevens- Johnson Syndrome)
COMMON
Runny nose
Dizziness
Decreased semen
Difficulties with ejaculation
Cloudy urine following sexual climax
RARE
Short term loss of consciousness

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness. Give your eyes a break to avoid fatigue and eat a healthy food to boost energy.

Runny nose:

Drink plenty of fluids. Drink hot tea. Take facial steam. Eat spicy foods.

Itching:

Apply a cold, wet cloth, or ice pack on the skin. Moisturize your skin. Apply cooling agents, such as menthol or calamine.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
TAMSUKEM is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
TAMSUKEM is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause dizziness.

ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with TAMSUKEM.

KIDNEY
TAMSUKEM should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

LIVER
TAMSUKEM is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases (serious liver infection). Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

ALLERGY
Do not take TAMSUKEM if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to tamsulosin or any other ingredients in this medicine.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,

Cataract or glaucoma surgery
Malaise while you urinate or after urinating (micturition syncope)

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking,

Medicines for high blood pressure
Diclofenac (used to treat pain and inflammation)
Warfarin (used to prevent blood clot)
Α1A-adrenoceptor (used for lower blood pressure)
Ketoconazole (used to treat fungal infection)
Erythromycin (used to treat infection)
