Pulmoday 20mg Tablet (Sildenafil 20mg)

INTRODUCTION

PULMODAY 20MG contains Sildenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors, which brings down blood pressure in the lungs. It is used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the blood vessels in the lungs). Sildenafil decreases the activity of (phosphodiesterase type 5) PDE5, so that more cyclic GMP (guanosine monophosphate) is available for the blood vessels inside the lungs. This leads to relaxation and widening of the blood vessels in the lungs decreases the pulmonary blood pressure to the heart and improves its function.

Always take this PULMODAY 20MG exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems and if you are a pregnant women or breastfeeding mother. It is not recommended for use in children below 1 year of age. Do not drink grapefruit juice while you are being treated with this medicine. The common side effects are headache, diarrhoea and vomiting and facial flushing.

HOW PULMODAY 20MG WORKS

Sildenafil is a phosphodiesterase (PDE-5) inhibitor works by relaxing and widening of the blood vessels in the lungs decreases the pulmonary blood pressure to the heart and improves its function.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has directed you. Swallow medicine whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.

Erection (priapism)

Piles, abdominal distension, dry mouth, hair loss, redness of the skin, night sweats, muscle aches, back pain
Increased body temperature
For children and adolescents: vomiting, infection of the throat, nausea, increased erections, pneumonia

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:

Stick to simple normal meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids.

Diarrhoea:

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration.

Vomiting:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks.Eat light, bland foods and avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
PULMODAY 20MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
PULMODAY 20MG should be used with caution as it may pass into breast milk at very low levels and would not be expected to harm the baby. Consult your doctor for advice.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
PULMODAY 20MG may cause dizziness or affect your vision. Do not drive or handle any machines while taking this medicine.

KIDNEY
PULMODAY 20MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
PULMODAY 20MG is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Sildenafil.

HEART DISEASE
PULMODAY 20MG is not recommended if you had a stroke, heart attack or any other severe heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Tell your doctor if you have or had a condition such as,

Low blood pressure
Sickle cell anaemia, leukaemia, multiple myeloma (cancer of bone marrow)
Inherited eye diseases (retinitis pigmentosa)
Loss of vision
Deformity of your penis or Peyronie’s disease
Stomach ulcer or bleeding problem (haemophilia)

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

Ketoconazole and itraconazole (used to treat fungal infection)
Nitroglycerin, amyl nitrite (used to relieve angina pectoris)
Riociguat, bosentan, iloprost (used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension)
Rifampicin, erythromycin, clarithromycin, telithromycin (used to treat bacterial infections)
Carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital (used to treat epilepsy)
Warfarin (used to thin blood)
Saquinavir (used for HIV)
Nefazodone (used to treat mental depression)
Doxazosin (used to treat high blood pressure or prostate problems)
St. John’s Wort (herbal medicine)
