Prostagard 4 Capsule (Silodosin 4mg)

Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s belongs to the group of medicines called ‘alpha-blockers’ used to treat the symptoms of an enlarged prostate gland (benign prostatic hyperplasia – BPH) in men. The symptoms include painful urination, difficulty in urination, excess urination, and urge incontinence (inability to hold urine for a long time). Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a condition in which there is an enlargement of the prostate gland due to multiplication of the cells mostly in the men above 50 years of age. The growth of the prostate gland is non-cancerous in nature.

Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s contains ‘Silodosin’ that blocks receptors (alpha-1), responsible for causing the smooth muscles contraction located in the prostate and bladder and relaxes them. As a result, BPH symptoms like night time urination, sudden urge to urinate, difficulty in urination, and strain while urinating is reduced, and the ability to urinate is increased with increased urine flow/output.

Take Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s with food. Do not chew, break the tablet; swallow it as a whole with water. Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s should not be taken unless prescribed by a doctor. You are advised to take Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as ejaculation disorders (orgasm with reduced or no sperm), dizziness, diarrhoea, stuffy nose (nasal congestion), and orthostatic hypotension (sudden lowering in blood pressure leading to dizziness on standing). Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Please do not stop taking Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s on your own as it could lead to recurring symptoms. Inform your doctor before taking Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s if you have low blood pressure, liver or kidney disease. Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s is intended for use in men only; women should not take Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s, especially pregnant or breastfeeding women. Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s should not be given to children as the safety and efficacy have not been established. Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s causes dizziness, so drive with caution. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption along with Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s as it could lead to increased dizziness. Inform your doctor about your health condition and medications before taking Prostagard 4 Capsule 10’s to rule out any side-effects.
