Piomed 30 Tablet (Pioglitazone 30mg)

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s is an anti-diabetic medicine belongs to the class of thiazolidinedione (TZD) also called ‘glitazones’ used to treat type 2 (non-insulin-dependent) diabetes mellitus. Type 2 diabetes is an illness where the body doesn’t make enough insulin, or the insulin that it makes doesn’t work properly. This is diabetes that usually develops in adulthood.

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s contains Pioglitazone which helps control the level of sugar in your blood when you have type 2 diabetes by helping your body make better use of the insulin it produces. Your doctor will check whether Pioglitazone is working 3-6 months after you start taking it.

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s may be used on its own in patients who are unable to take metformin, and where treatment with diet and exercise has failed to control blood sugar or may be added to other therapies (such as gliclazide, glibenclamide, glipizide, tolbutamide or insulin) which have failed to provide sufficient control of blood sugar. Pioglitazone may also be used in combination with insulin.

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s should be taken with food or empty stomach. However, it should be taken at the same time of the day each time for best results. For better advice, your doctor will decide, what dose should be taken and it can change timely depending upon your condition. The most common side effect of Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s is upper respiratory tract infection, headache, sinusitis, myalgia (muscle pain), and pharyngitis.

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s should not be stopped even if you feel better, without consulting your doctor as sugar level keeps changing. If you stop taking Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s suddenly, it may increase your sugar levels which could further increase the risk of eyesight loss (retinopathy), kidney damage (nephropathy) and nerve damage (neuropathy). Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s should not be taken if you have type 1 diabetes mellitus, if you are hypersensitive (allergic) to Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s or any of the other ingredients of Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s, have heart failure or have had heart failure in the past, diabetic ketoacidosis (a complication of diabetes causing rapid weight loss, nausea or vomiting), severe kidney or liver disease, bladder cancer. Please inform your doctor if you have any heart disease, is or planning to get pregnant or breastfeeding. Safety and efficacy of Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s in children under 18 years have not been established, so it should not be given to them.

Piomed-30 Tablet 10’s works by helping to restore your body’s appropriate response to insulin, thereby lowering your blood sugar.
