Description

Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet is a combination of Chlorthalidone and Olmesartan. It is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). This medicine works by relaxing the blood vessels and also increasing the water and sodium excretion from the body. Thus it promotes the smooth flow of blood and also allows your heart to pump blood more efficiently.

Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet has some side effects like cough, nausea, headache, diarrhoea, dizziness, and upset stomach. This medicine may cause you to urinate more often as it works by removing extra water from your body. Drink plenty of fluids while taking this medicine to prevent getting dehydrated. If any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse, consult your doctor immediately. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet may be taken in the morning to avoid frequent urination at night. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly as it can cause your blood pressure to rise, thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke (a condition that occurs due to reduced oxygen supply to the brain).

Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet should be used with caution if you have kidney or liver problems, or diabetes. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicine before starting the treatment. Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age due to lack of safety and efficacy data. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling of the face/tongue/throat, breathing difficulty, etc.
Anuria
Anuria is a condition in which the kidneys are unable to produce urine. Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet is not recommended for use if you have anuria as it may further damage your kidneys.
Aliskiren
Coadministration of Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) is not recommended if you have diabetes (high blood sugar levels) and/or moderate to severe kidney impairment as it may increase the risk of kidney damage.

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant.
Breast-feeding
Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet may pass into breastmilk. Hence, consult your doctor if you are breastfeeding.
General warnings
Volume and electrolyte disturbances
Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels. This may cause dizziness, dry mouth, thirst, weakness, acid-base imbalance (abnormality in the human body to balance between acid and base), etc. Hence, your blood pressure and electrolyte levels will be periodically monitored by your doctor while you are taking this medication.
Driving or operating machines
Use of Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet may cause dizziness or fatigue in some cases. Hence, avoid performing activities such as driving or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms.
Hypotension
Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure), especially if you have volume depletion (excess loss of salt and fluid from the body due to severe diarrhoea, vomiting, burns and kidney problems leading to reduced fluid volume). Your doctor may correct this condition before initiating treatment with Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet.
Use in Children
Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy data for use are not clinically established.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next scheduled dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet. Seek immediate medical attention in case of an overdose.

Interactions

General Instructions

Take Olmetrack CT 12.5 Tablet with or without food as instructed by your doctor. Avoid taking more or less than the prescribed dose. Do not break, crush or chew the tablet.

Take this medicine at the same time every day as it will help you to remember.

This medicine can make you feel dizzy. Hence, get up slowly from a sitting or lying position.

Your doctor may suggest regular tests to monitor your blood sugar, blood cholesterol, and fat levels during treatment with this medicine.

Eat a healthy balanced diet and exercise regularly to get maximum benefits from the treatment.
