About Oflochem Ord Tablet

OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the urinary tract, intestine, respiratory tract, gonorrhoea, and genital infections of both male and female. Additionally, OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET is also used to treat diarrhoea. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET is a combination of two antibiotic drugs, namely: Ofloxacin and Ornidazole. Ofloxacin inhibits DNA gyrase which is required for the replication, transcription, and repair of the DNA. Ornidazole inhibits protein synthesis and leads to cell death, thereby kills the bacteria. Together, OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET helps in treating bacterial infections.

Take OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET with or without food. The tablet form of OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET should be swallowed as a whole with water; do not chew, break or crush the tablet. The liquid form of OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the pack well before each use. A healthcare professional will administer the injection form of OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET; do not self-administer. The dose and duration of OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET can vary depending upon your condition and severity of the infection. Also, it is recommended to complete the course of medicine even if you feel better as OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET contains antibiotics, and leaving it in between may lead to even severe infection that will, in fact, stop responding to the antibiotic as well (antibiotic resistance). In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, dizziness, and headache. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Drug Warnings

Do not take OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you had swelling or tearing of tendons while taking quinolone antibiotics. OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET is associated with an increased risk of tendon rupture and tendonitis. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience tendon pain, swelling or inflammation while taking OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET. Do not take OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET if you have myasthenia gravis as it may cause increased muscle weakness. Talk to your doctor before taking OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET if you have epilepsy, low levels of potassium, nervous or muscle problems, head injury or brain tumour, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, heart, kidney or liver problems. Maintain a minimum gap of two hours between OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET and antacid, vitamin and mineral medicines. Consult your doctor before taking OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Drug Interactions

DRUG-DRUG INTERACTIONS: OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET may have interaction with pain killers (aspirin, ibuprofen), antibiotic (azithromycin, sulfamethoxazole, trimethoprim, metronidazole, erythromycin), corticosteroids (dexamethasone), anti-diabetic (metformin), bronchodilator (albuterol), and diuretics (furosemide).

FOOD-DRUG INTERACTIONS: Aluminium and magnesium-containing antacids, Multivitamins, multi-minerals containing zinc and iron should not be consumed along with OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET; maintain a minimum gap of two hours between both.

DRUG-DISEASE INTERACTION: OFLOCHEM ORD TABLET may have interactions with colitis (inflammation in the lining of the colon), tendonitis (inflammation in tendons), CNS disorders, myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease), peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain), crystalluria (cloudy urine), diabetes, kidney, liver and heart problems.
