What is it prescribed for?
Hypertension
This medicine is used alone or in combination with other medicines for the treatment of high blood pressure which may be caused by genetic or environmental factors.
Congestive Heart Failure
This medicine is used in the treatment of congestive heart failure which is a type of heart disease, characterized by thickening of the walls of the left ventricle.
Left Ventricular Dysfunction
This medicine is used in the treatment of left ventricular dysfunction, which is a type of heart disease that lowers the pumping capacity of the heart.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Enalapril, other ACE inhibitors, or any other inactive ingredients present along with the formulation.
Aliskiren
Coadministration of aliskiren and this medicine is not recommended due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and in patients with diabetes and kidney diseases.

Breast-feeding

General warnings
Hypotension
Symptomatic hypotension may occur in patients with volume depletion or patients who are treated with high-dose diuretics. It is advised to correct this condition before initiating treatment with this medicine. Regular monitoring of blood pressure is recommended during treatment with this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments should be done based on the clinical condition.
Hyperkalemia
This medicine may increase potassium levels in the blood (hyperkalemia). This may cause serious side effects such as fatal cardiac rhythm irregularities. It is advised to avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and other medicines that may increase potassium levels (ACE inhibitors, potassium-sparing diuretics, and potassium supplements) during treatment with this medicine.
Cough
This medicine may cause a persistent nonproductive cough in some patients. It is resolved when the medicine is discontinued.
Impaired liver function
This medicine should be used with caution in patients with liver diseases due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Close monitoring of liver function is recommended for such patients. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
