Description
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is a combination medicine used for the treatment of high blood pressure. Hypertension or high blood pressure is the condition in which the force exerted by the blood on the blood vessel walls is high. High blood pressure may increase the risk of heart attack, stroke (death of brain cells due to the interrupted supply of blood and oxygen) or long term kidney disease and this medicine reduces the risk of these complications. Patients are advised to maintain a strict exercise, salt intake restriction and diet regimen along with this medicine for the best possible effect. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients below 18 years of age.
The common side effects of LN Beta 2.5 Tablet are headache, slow heart rate, flushing (feeling of warmth in face, ear, neck and limbs), tiredness and nausea. This medicine may cause dizziness, so do not indulge in work that requires mental focus such as driving, operating vehicles, etc. In case you experience ankle swelling, raise your legs while sitting down.
Take LN Beta 2.5 Tablet as directed by your doctor and try not to stop on your own. Discuss with your doctor about all the known illnesses such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, etc., and all the active medications before taking this medicine. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy or breastfeeding mother before starting the therapy. Your doctor may advise you to frequently monitor the blood pressure and electrolytes to make sure this medicine is working or need titration.

When not to use?
Allergy
Do not take LN Beta 2.5 Tablet if you are allergic to it or any other medicines belonging to the group beta-blockers, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation. Seek medical attention if you experience any undesirable effects such as skin rash, hives, swelling (face, lips, tongue), etc.
Heart diseases
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may increase the risk of irregular heartbeats. Hence, it is not recommended for use in patients having heart conditions like heart attack, rhythm disorders, angina (chest pain radiating to arms, neck and back), sick sinus syndrome (inability of the heart to create heart beat), etc.
Severe liver disease
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may increase the risk of liver failure and portal hypertension (increase blood flow in the vessels that carries blood from the digestive organs to the liver). Hence, LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is not recommended for use in patients with moderate to severe liver impairment due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Bronchial asthma
Bronchial asthma is a condition in which the airway path gets narrow and swells and produces mucous in the pathway, causing difficulty in breathing. LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may narrow the airway pathway and may worsen the breathing condition. Hence, this medicine is not recommended in bronchial asthma.
Cardiogenic shock
Cardiogenic shock is a life-threatening condition in which the heart suddenly loses its ability to pump enough blood to meet the demands of the body. LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may interfere with the pumping ability of the heart and increases the risk of other circulatory conditions such as stroke, organ damage, etc., or worsen the diseased heart condition. Hence, LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is not recommended in this condition.
Warnings
Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Use of LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is not recommended in pregnancy as it may cause reduced birthweight and prolonged gestation (the time period of birth). Discuss all the potential benefits and risks with your doctor before taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is known to pass into breastmilk. It may cause a low heart rate (bradycardia) in infants. Hence, the use of this medicine is not recommended in breastfeeding mothers. Your doctor may advise you to either discontinue breastfeeding or to stop using this medicine based on the clinical condition.
General warnings
Aortic stenosis
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with extreme caution in patients suffering from aortic stenosis (narrowing of the aortic valve opening) due to the increased risk of very low blood pressure. Close monitoring of blood pressure is recommended for such patients.
Coronary artery disease
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution while starting or increasing the dose in patients with coronary artery diseases (blockage of the blood vessel that supplies blood to the heart). Using LN Beta 2.5 Tablet in this condition may increase the risk of a heart attack.
Drug withdrawal
Abrupt discontinuation of LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may increase the risk of increased chest pain (angina). A gradual dose reduction is recommended to avoid these reactions. Do not stop taking this medicine unless directed by your doctor.
Use in children
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients below 18 years of age since the safety and efficacy studies are not clinically established.
Anesthetics
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution while a patient is given anaesthesia as it may increase the risk of high blood pressure which may also lead to a heart attack.
Peripheral vascular diseases
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with caution in patients having narrowed blood vessels in the body due to any underlying reason. Dose adjustment and safety monitoring might be required in such cases.
Sports
It is advised to not indulge in certain sports while LN Beta 2.5 Tablet is consumed as it may alter the heart condition. Archery, racing, shooting and other high-risk sports should be avoided. Sportspersons should refer to the list of medicine published by the World Anti-Doping Agency, which is not to be taken while participating in specific sports events.
Driving or operating machinery
Use of LN Beta 2.5 Tablet may cause blurred vision or dizziness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities such as driving a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.
Kidney diseases
LN Beta 2.5 Tablet should be used with extreme caution in patients having an impaired kidney function. This medicine is excreted through kidneys and compromised kidneys may cause accumulation of this medicine in the kidney. This may worsen the condition of the diseased kidney and may also show undesirable effects of this medicine. Close monitoring of kidney function is indicated.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Take the missed dose of LN Beta 2.5 Tablet as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume at the scheduled time. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case you suspect LN Beta 2.5 Tablet overdose.
General Instructions
Take LN Beta 2.5 Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. It can be taken with or without food. Do not take in larger amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable side effects. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Take this medicine immediately after peeling it from the strip.
