Feburic 40 Tablet (Febuxostat 40mg)

Medical Description

Feburic 40mg tablet is used to treat high levels of uric acid in the body. It can lead to a condition known as hyperuricaemia (also called gout). Gouty arthritis, a condition where uric acid level increases more than normal. It contains febuxostat as the active component that belongs to the anti-gout class of medicine. It works by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for the production of uric acid, this reduces the amount of uric acid and relieves symptoms of gout such as severe pain and swelling of the joint. Feburic 40mg tablet should not be used in children below 18 years of age. Sudden joint pain, headache, nausea, diarrhoea are the most common side effect of this medicine. If these side effects do not resolve within a short duration or if it gets worsened, reach out to the nearest hospital or clinic.

Uses of Feburic 40 MG

Feburic 40mg tablet is used to treat a condition called gout, where the level of a chemical substance called uric acid, which is urate in the body, increases. It is also used for the treatment of hyperuricaemia (high uric acid levels in the blood).

Contraindications of Feburic 40 MG

If you are allergic to Febuxostat or any other component of Feburic 40mg tablet.

Directions for Use of Feburic 40 MG

Feburic 40mg tablet dosage should be taken orally once or twice a day as per the doctor’s prescription. Preferably take medicine at the same time every day.

Interactions of Feburic 40 MG

Interactions with other medicines
Certain medicines can interfere with the action of Feburic 40mg tablet if taken at the same time.
Always inform your doctor about all the medicine you are taking, which includes all prescribed or non-prescribed herbal medicines, dietary supplements as well as other treatments if you are taking for any disorder.
Especially if you are taking immunosuppressants, as they can cause serious harm, hence should not be used concomitantly.
The effect of Feburic 40mg tablet is altered when used concomitantly with antacids such as aluminium hydroxide, magnesium hydroxide. Thus, it should have an interval of a minimum of 1 hour between them.

Storage and disposal of Feburic 40 MG

Store Feburic 40mg tablets at a temperature below 25°C in a cool and dry place.
Keep it out of the reach of children and pets.

Dosage of Feburic 40 MG

Overdose
If you notice any of the symptoms of side effects due to suspected overdose, immediately rush to a hospital or consult a doctor for emergency treatment.
Missed a Dose
Take the missed dose when you remember but if it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not overdose to compensate for the missed one.
