Doxcef 50mg Syrup

Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs, nose, throat, ears, skin, bladder, etc. It is also used to treat typhoid fever in children. This medicine prevents infection by killing or stopping the growth of bacteria. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is not effective against infections caused by viruses. Your doctor may advise Doxcef 50 MG Syrup alone or in combination with other medications to treat bacterial infections.

Doxcef 50 MG Syrup shows some common side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, weakness, nausea, and vomiting. Do not take give this medicine if your child is allergic to it. Consult your doctor if any side effects are seen for a long time.

Doxcef 50 MG Syrup can be taken with or without food. For the ease of remembering, give the syrup to your child at the same time every day. Once your child starts taking the medicine, ensure that the entire course of treatment is completed. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup should only be used to treat or prevent infections caused by bacteria. Avoid unnecessary use of Doxcef 50 MG Syrup as excessive use may cause the bacteria to become resistant to treatment.

Uses of Doxcef 50 MG Syrup

What is it prescribed for?
Bronchitis
Bronchitis is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulate air passage in the lungs. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria. It is also used to treat a sudden worsening of chronic bronchitis (a long-lasting form of bronchitis) and subsequent episodes of bronchitis that come and go after the initial recovery.
Cystitis
Cystitis is the swelling of the urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat cystitis caused by E.coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterococci, and Klebsiella species.
Community-Acquired Pneumonia
Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) refers to pneumonia (lung infection) that is acquired outside the hospital. CAP can be bacterial or viral. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat CAP caused by bacteria like Mycoplasma pneumonia, Streptococcus pneumonia, Haemophilus influenzae, etc.
Sinusitis
Sinuses are hollow spaces located behind the forehead, nose, cheekbones, and in between the eyes. Sinusitis is the swelling of the tissues surrounding the sinuses. Your child may experience a stuffed nose, and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.
Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in the throat and tonsils. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis (a condition where both, the tonsils and the pharynx, are affected).
Acute bacterial otitis media
Otitis media (AOM), is an infection of the middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Doxcef 50 MG Syrup is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid using Doxcef 50 MG Syrup if your child is allergic to it. Inform your doctor if there is any history of allergy to Doxcef 50 MG Syrup. If you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling anywhere on the body, dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc. inform your doctor and seek immediate medical attention.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Try not to skip a dose of Doxcef 50 MG Syrup. Give the medicine to your child as soon as you remember. Avoid taking the missed dose if the time for the next one is near. Do not double the dose to compensate for the missed dose.
Overdose
Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Seek emergency medical attention in case of an overdose with Doxcef 50 MG Syrup.

General Instructions

You can give Doxcef 50 MG Syrup with or without food as prescribed by your doctor. Shake the bottle well before use. Measure the dose of the medicine carefully using a measuring device. Make sure that your child takes the necessary volume of Doxcef 50 MG Syrup.
Make sure that your child completes the entire course of this medicine even if the symptoms disappear after few days. If your child discontinues this medicine, there is a chance that the infection may occur again. Also, Doxcef 50 MG Syrup may lose its effectiveness in killing the bacteria.
Never give more than the prescribed dose to your child. Give the medicine at the same time daily.
Do not recommend this medicine to other parents even if their child’s condition appears to be the same.
