Description

Cortel Trio Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide, Amlodipine and Telmisartan. It is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Hypertension is a condition in which the force exerted by blood against the blood vessel walls is high, which increases the risk of heart complications such as heart attack and stroke (damage to the brain due to low blood supply). It relaxes the blood vessels by widening them and promotes smooth blood flow. It also increases the excretion of water and sodium, thus resulting in decreased blood pressure.

Cortel Trio Tablet has some common side effects like swelling in your ankles or feet, dizziness, headache, tiredness, stomach upset etc. Consult your doctor if these side effects persists or worsens.

Cortel Trio Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose and duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor. You should not stop taking Cortel Trio Tablet without consulting your doctor as it can lead to serious heart conditions. It is also not recommended as initial therapy for high blood pressure. It is best to take this medicine at least 4 hours before going to bed as this medicine increases your frequency of urination.

Cortel Trio Tablet can interact with other medical conditions and medications. Inform your doctor if you have liver, heart and kidney problems, diabetes, or if you are under any medication. To ensure that Cortel Trio Tablet is working effectively, you should have your blood pressure, kidney function, electrolyte levels, and blood sugar levels tested regularly.

Cortel Trio Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

When not to use?

Allergy
Cortel Trio Tablet is not recommended if you have a known allergy to any of the ingredients present in this medicine. Seek medical attention in case of symptoms such as skin rashes, hives (itchy, painful eruptions that sting), swelling (face, lips, tongue, etc.), breathing difficulty, etc.
Aliskiren
Do not take Cortel Trio Tablet with Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) as it can lead to serious side effects such as kidney problems, low blood pressure, and excessive potassium levels in the blood. This risk is especially higher in the elderly population and/or if you have diabetes and kidney problems.
Anuria
Anuria is a condition where the kidney is unable to produce urine. Cortel Trio Tablet can lead to a loss of electrolytes like sodium and potassium, magnesium ions, etc. from your body. This may further lead to kidney damage.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forget to take a dose of Cortel Trio Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at your usual time. Do not double up your dose.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek immediate medical attention if you have taken an overdose of Cortel Trio Tablet. In case of an overdose, symptoms like lethargy, drowsiness, nausea and vomiting can be seen.

Take Cortel Trio Tablet with or without food.
