Clopilet 150 Tablet (Clopidogrel 150mg)

INTRODUCTION

CLOPILET 150MG contains Clopidogrel which belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet which prevents the clumping and reduces the formation of blood clots (thrombosis). Platelets are very small structures in the blood which clump together during blood clotting. This medicine is used to prevent blood clots in conditions such as atherosclerosis, where the arteries are hardened, unstable angina or heart attack and irregular heartbeat.

It works by preventing platelets from clumping together and forming clots. It binds irreversibly to the P2Y12 class of adenosine diphosphate (ADP) receptors on platelets and inhibits their clumping. This prevents the formation of blood clots and thus lowers the risk of heart attack or stroke. Before taking this medicine inform your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding.

CLOPILET 150MG is not suitable for use in children. Your doctor will give the correct dose depends on your age, body weight and health condition. The most common side effects is bleeding. Do not take if you had bleeding disorder or have stomach ulcer or bleeding within the brain.

• Prevent blood clots in conditions such as atherosclerosis, unstable angina or myocardial infarction (heart attack) and atrial fibrillation (irregular heartbeat)

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this CLOPILET 150MG as instructed by your doctor. Swallow as a whole and do not crush or chew. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Your doctor will give the right dose depends on your condition. It may be taken with or without food.

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,

• Heparin, ticlopidine and oral anticoagulants (used to reduce blood clotting)
• Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicine (treat painful and inflammatory conditions of muscle or joints)
• Fluoxetine, moclobemide and fluvoxamine (treat depression)
• Omeprazole, esomeprazole (treat upset stomach)
• Fluconazole, voriconazole (treat fungal infections)
• Efavirenz (treats HIV infections)
• Carbamazepine (treats epilepsy)
• Repaglinide (used to treat diabetes)
• Paclitaxel (used to treat cancer)
