Medical Description

Ceftum 250 tablet is an antibiotic medicine used to treat bacterial infections of various parts of the body. It contains Cefuroxime as its active ingredient. Cefuroxime is a higher antibiotic and belongs to the class of cephalosporins. Ceftum 250 tablet is effective against infection of tonsils, throat, sinus, ears, respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues. It works by inhibiting the cell wall synthesis of bacteria, which ultimately causes the death of bacteria. You should avoid taking antibiotics for flu, cold and seasonal allergies as these diseases are caused by viruses and antibiotics are not effective against viruses. You should also avoid taking antibiotics when not required as an excessive intake can make antibiotics ineffective for future infections. Also, refrain from using it for a prolonged time as it can also affect the good bacteria present in the body along with harmful bacteria.

Contraindications of Ceftum 250 MG

If you are allergic to Cefuroxime or other ingredients of Ceftum tablet.
If you have experienced an allergic reaction upon the use of certain antibiotics (Penicillins, Monobactams, Carbapenems or other Beta-Lactam antibiotics). If you are not sure about these antibiotics ask your doctor.

Overdose

If you have missed taking any dose of Ceftum 250 tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose of this medicine to compensate for the missed one.
