Akurit Tablet (Rifampicin 150mg / Isoniazid 75mg)

Akurit 150mg TABLET belongs to the group of medicines called anti-tuberculosis drugs primarily used to treat and prevent tuberculosis. Tuberculosis is an infectious disease that mainly affects the lungs, but it can also spread to other body parts such as kidneys, brain, spine, and bone marrow.

Akurit 150mg TABLET is a combination of two anti-tuberculosis drugs, namely: Rifampicin, and Isoniazid. Rifampicin works by inactivating a bacterial RNA-polymerase) an enzyme that allows TB bacteria to make and replicate essential proteins. Isoniazid prevents the creation of its own protective coating by these bacteria. Together, they destroy the bacteria named Mycobacterium tuberculosis, which causes TB (tuberculosis)., and the infection is eliminated.

Take Akurit 150mg TABLET 30minutes before food or 2hours after food. Swallow AKURIT TABLET as a whole; do not crush or chew the tablet. Take AKURIT TABLET daily at the same time to ensure better efficacy. The dose and duration of Akurit 150mg TABLET can vary depending upon your condition and severity of the infection. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, headache, weakness, muscle pain, heartburn, diarrhoea, gas, and numbness or tingling sensation. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Do not stop taking Akurit TABLET despite symptomatic relief. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking AKURIT TABLET for as long as it has been prescribed for you. Avoid foods and drinks containing histamine or tyramine such as cured meat, matured cheese, soya, tuna, salmon, mackerel, wine, and beer while taking Akurit 150mg TABLET as they might cause interaction. Maintain a gap of one hour between AKURIT TABLET and antacid medicines. Consult your doctor before taking AKURIT TABLET if you are pregnant or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking  Akurit 150mg TABLET as it passes into breast milk. AKURIT TABLET is not recommended for use in children. AKURIT TABLET may cause dizziness, and vision problems, so drive with caution. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Akurit 150mg TABLET as it could lead to increased drowsiness, dizziness and liver damage.
